Washington, D.C. Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced he is co-sponsoring a bill by Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) to ban law enforcement from using racial profiling in Nevada and around the country. The End Racial Profiling Act of 2011(ERPA) is designed to enforce the constitutional right of equal protection under the law by eliminating the policies and procedures that can lead to racial profiling.
Racial profiling has no place in our law enforcement, Reid said. Our law enforcement officials who put their lives on the line every day handle their jobs with professionalism, diligence, and fidelity to the rule of law. Its imperative that they use their scarce resources for real law enforcement that targets those who engage in criminal activity, not one group of people based on their race, ethnicity, or national origin. I applaud Sen. Cardin for leading the way in this very important issue. I will continue working to build support for this crucial legislation while also working to create jobs and turn the economy around.
The End Racial Profiling Act of 2011 would:
Prohibit racial profiling;
Mandate training on racial profiling issues;
Withhold federal law enforcement funding if local and state governments failed to adopt effective policies that prohibit racial profiling;
Provide grants for the development and implementation of best policing practices that discourage racial profiling; and
Require the Attorney General to report on ongoing discriminatory profiling practices
BACKGROUND:
Reid co-sponsored similar legislation in 2004 called the End Racial Profiling Act of 2004.
You would think their Union leadership would come out with a statement denouncing this.
This proposal is just a bone being thrown to the trial lawyers who would make millions off of it.
Democraps stick their stinking rotting noses in another thing.
Get them the hell out of power. They are abusers.
For those who support FR, click here to show it!
Why doesn’t he employ some truth in labeling and name it the “Illegal Alien Protection Bill of 2011”?
There are numerous profiles used in Law Enforcement. Lets get rid of them all together. This country is already in worse shape than Sodom.
Reid acting stupidly again.
“Calling all cars. Calling all cars” Be on the lookout for someone. That is all.”
How often does anyone hear the name of Senator Cardin? Exactly. None. Not until the Democrat slavemasters need some color in their life so they trot out Cardin from the Democrat Plantation.
Free Mumia!
Suppose a bank was robbed and witnesses say the robber was white,5'7 with blond hair,who should the Police look for?
My best guess is this is just another gratuitous stupid law to pander to Democrat voters. It isn't going anywhere in the House.
Like... Congressional Insider Trading??
Good plan. When a victim reports being robbed by "two young Amish males", I hope law enforcement will respond as professionally as TSA - and search the usual suspects.
We have a winner !
But they’re for the “little guy”./sarc
Moscow on the Potomac
And Harry Reid, is *not* a documented big fat forked tongue liar!..../Sarc
Very likely a bone being thrown to the OWS people too who are becoming very disillusioned that the Democrats are not protecting their assemblies.
Any so-called "racist" legislation from here out will be desperate attempts to keep the left-loon natives on the reservation.
Harry, what America needs is a Constitutional Amendment for IQ profiling for Senators.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but it should require the IQ to contain three numbers, and the first one can’t be ZERO!
