Washington, D.C. Nevada Senator Harry Reid today announced he is co-sponsoring a bill by Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) to ban law enforcement from using racial profiling in Nevada and around the country. The End Racial Profiling Act of 2011(ERPA) is designed to enforce the constitutional right of equal protection under the law by eliminating the policies and procedures that can lead to racial profiling.
Racial profiling has no place in our law enforcement, Reid said. Our law enforcement officials who put their lives on the line every day handle their jobs with professionalism, diligence, and fidelity to the rule of law. Its imperative that they use their scarce resources for real law enforcement that targets those who engage in criminal activity, not one group of people based on their race, ethnicity, or national origin. I applaud Sen. Cardin for leading the way in this very important issue. I will continue working to build support for this crucial legislation while also working to create jobs and turn the economy around.
The End Racial Profiling Act of 2011 would:
Prohibit racial profiling;
Mandate training on racial profiling issues;
Withhold federal law enforcement funding if local and state governments failed to adopt effective policies that prohibit racial profiling;
Provide grants for the development and implementation of best policing practices that discourage racial profiling; and
Require the Attorney General to report on ongoing discriminatory profiling practices
BACKGROUND:
Reid co-sponsored similar legislation in 2004 called the End Racial Profiling Act of 2004.
If the dems are so against racial profiling as they claim, why did the dems elect as president, not once but twice, a gov by the name of Bill Clinton that was sued for ordering his Arkansas state troopers to racial profile?
This isn't going to sit well with the police unions!
I think your last statement says it all. This is to get the vote on record. Then it can be used to show the opposition as racists. It is a ploy to get the minority vote. Obvious to a thinking person, but effective on the masses.
You would think,but it won't.

Precisely. My guess is race could not be used in the description of a perpetrator.
Harry Reid is not insane. He is insanely evil.
We’ve got horrible unemployment. The economy is crushed. Illegal aliens are bankrupting the government. We’re fighting wars to take the heat off Obama. Harry reid introduces a bill that makes no sense. I think the Democrats are afraid of that Canadian oil because it might mean that there’s enough tar to take care of them all.
I have been filling out state mandated racial profiling forms after every citizen contact for the last 12 years.
Every year Missouri releases the stats, and every year the ACLU complains that there is racial profiling. Nothing has changed. We are mandated to take an hour of racial profiling training a year. Nothing has changed with that either. In fact, stops of blacks went up. So where’s the disconnect?
This is just the Demos saying “Cops, don’t stop any people of color.”
If anything, it’s whites who are being profiled now to keep it “fair”.
