Herman Cain, who's security team manhandled multiple reporters recently, became the first GOP candidate to receive Secret Service protection in this election cycle--and Cain's spokesman, J.D. Gordon said skirmishes with journalists prompted the decision, The Washington Post reported. "Cain spokesman J.D. Gordon said Thursday night that the campaign asked for the protection after The Washington Post posted an article online that morning detailing a series of physical skirmishes involving journalists at Cain rallies."

ABC news just reported that Cain had been receiving threats.
Journalists don’t like Herman Cain,maybe there is a correlation there;)
One incident on Wednesday involved journalists jostling among themselves for position. Another featured a local police officer aggressively blocking a video journalist. In at least two instances, Cain's own private security guard physically blocked reporters, including one from The Washington Post.
So whether it is journalists acting like animals and pushing each other, a local cop trying to get them to act civil or Cain's own private security guard doing likewise, it is all Cain's fault.
Something smells about this.

If he were still a Democrat, he'd be lampooned by Freepers who sing his praises and defend his every gaffe, misstatement and flub.
It’s just a coincidence. The request would’ve been submitted well before.
First known threat (and there may have been more) was serious and was apparantly racially motivated, from a KKK member [or sympathizer] it appears, and was phoned in to the campaign in June. There have been additional threats, is what aired on the reports a few hours ago as well. It is not an easy process to have done, and must be approved by Department of Homeland Security.
I’ve heard reports from at least a few MSM sources in the past couple of days that Cain has received death threats. I rather doubt the Secret Service agrees to protect a candidate on the basis of the candidate complaining about unruly journalists. If they do, that would be ridiculous.
Make sense. The clown media knows better then to act like this with the Secret Service.
Naturally, a Perrybot thinks there’s something amiss with this decision.

I’d be afraid of them too, just because they are journalists doesn’t mean they can’t be assassins.
Because when a liberal rag says something it must be true. There are also other news sources reporting that he received threats (not from pushy journalists). Why have you chosen to believe this one? It’s not like we’ve ever in our entire lives found out the media was full of it. So if you would let me know which candidate you support? I’d like to make sure I believe everything the liberal press publishes about him/her.

We fought a battle about this on a long thread with the Perrybots last night. Some of the usual harpies were there and let’s just say the...complexion of things became quite apparent.
