You really don't want to see a pay cut for congress along with a cut in the amount of time they spend in D.C.?

Those who are against this are really just generally haters of Rick Perry and have been from the beginning. If you have a tag line that is against a candidate, you probably can't be taken very seriously when you enter a thread about them.

I have come to expect too much. Forgive me. This was the quote in its entirety and it's aimed at those who actually have Anti-Perry messages in their tag lines. These same people would jump all over the proposal should their candidate propose it.

If you look at my comment I say "generally" because it's not so in every case and certainly not so outside of Free Republic.

HOORAY Rick Perry!

Take away the socialist spending, the corporate welfare, the burdensome taxation that supports this nonsense. The pork goes away, the lobbyists go away, the foreign governments and their lobbyists go away, the parasitic state/county/city social lobbyists go away, etc., etc., and the Congress, the President, the courts have very little to do that cannot be done part-time.

DEFUND socialist collectives, foreign and domestic.

DEPOPULATE socialists and RINOS (Republicans Implementing Nuances Of Socialism) from Congress.

Legislatures (state and federal) could be part-time jobs with 1/10th pay, NO retirement, NO insurance, NO benefits and NO perks. These POS politicians can get a full time job doing something productive not progressive.
Their part-time job could be spent DEFUNDING/DISMANTLING socialist collectives, foreign and domestic (our government in particular).

Doesn't look to me like a job one can do while running for President.

As I said, Perry is currently free to cut his salary as governor. The governor, who spends most of his time campaigning for president earns about 150K.

I understand the basic tasks of all Governors. Are you saying he’s not doing any particular ones? Is the Legislature in session? Did he miss a reprieve inquiry? C’mon man, details..

You think that the government of Texas is running perfectly?

I doubt that any governor would say that there isn't more that they can do to make sure that the government functions in their state are running more efficiently.

While Perry collects a $150K paycheck for being the governor of Texas, that should be his first obligation.

But if you think Perry can perform his duties as governor while running for president for 14 months, then tell me why such a part time job should pay $150K a year and tell me why Perry hasn't cut his own salary?

The only problem I have here is Discount Rick saying he’ll work for half the price. That comes across with the same credibility as fringe candidates who say the same thing.

What are you saying.? That Rick Perry would not take just a $200,000 salary as President? That he would take the full 400 G? That's the dumbest thing I read all week. What Perry said is not something you can worm your way out of. Save your clever cynicism for something else. 

Of course he has to be elected first

It’s penny-ante. It would amount to perhaps a thousandth of one cent on your tax bill.

I’m in an industry where theft is quite common, unfortunately, and one thing I’ve learned is that if an employer tries to save money by paying employees less, the employees will make up for it be doing subtle thefts that are hard to detect, but can be profitable for the employee.

So one question that arise, when Rick is offering to take a wage cut to get the nomination is how he intends to make up for it on the back end.
