Gerri Field stood with hundreds of protesters in front of Tiffany's in Walnut Creek this week, railing against economic injustice at the top of her lungs and drawing approving honks from passing cars with her sign, "Heal America, Tax Wall Street."
For two sunny midday hours, the crowd did its best to "occupy" the busiest intersection in town, Mount Diablo Boulevard and North Main Street, singing "This Land Is Your Land" and denouncing corporate greed and the ultrarich 1 percent.

And there is, unbeknownst to many, a lot of occupying being done beyond big city borders. At least 30 Occupy movements exist from Santa Cruz north through Alameda and Concord to Vacaville, Napa and Santa Rosa.
The message is the same as in the big cities. But most of those movements, with a few notable exceptions such as Santa Cruz and Santa Rosa, don't involve tents, and even there the method is mellower - more upscale, less rageful, cleaner.
Different vibes
Unlike the Occupy camps in San Francisco, Oakland and Berkeley, homeless people and clashes with police have not dominated the imagery.
"A tent city in a place like this would alienate too many people," psychologist Jane Vinson, 77, said at the Thursday demonstration in Walnut Creek, which drew about 300 people and was purposefully situated near a Bank of America branch.
"Our culture does include Neiman Marcus as well as the Apple store, and a tent city would just attract angry people who would muddy our message."
In other words, anarchists who like to toss rocks and the chronically homeless are welcome only if they want to pitch in without mess or conflict.
That stands in contrast to what has happened in the bigger cities.

They’re camping out in front of Tiffany’s, which I guess is where the 1% shops.
This will put a dent in local businesses which need holiday revenue to break even.
So the OWS crowd wants to share the wealth that they are preventing from being generated....
There is some deep thinking going on there.
Probably several there remember singing "Give Peace a Chance".....in the 60's....or some such Peacenik drivel.

Occupy Wall Street has morphed into an unwieldy parade of leftist kooks and crackpots, who are raging against the demons, real and imagined, which prevent our society from being the utopia they dream of.
“Don’t tax me! Tax that guy standing over there!” It’s the new “american” way! The DemocRATS love it!

I truly believe that's why they hate WalMart and the people who shop there: poor people get lots of stuff for a little money, raising their standard of living. OWS doesn't WANT to raise anyone's standard of living. These are always that types that hated the rich, hated the suburbs, hated the "bourgeoisie"... poverty for all is what they want. All of us scrambling together in the dirt. When they have brought everyone down to their level (or hopefully even a little lower, so they can finally be recognized as superior) then and only then will they be happy.

And just as misleading. Wall Street was not the cause of the economic crisis....politicians and their private sand boxes like Fanny Mae & Freddie Mac were/are guilty of much of this economic disaster along with the politicians who governed them then and govern them now. How easily mislead these protesters are...the answer lies in the Communist Party USA, Louis Farrakhan, SEIU and other unions along with politicians like this president, and Nancy Pelosi, the Mayor of Chicago, Jessie Jackson whipping up false reasons to make poorly educated nits like the protesters 'angry' over supposed civil crimes against them and their privileged lives. A Van Jones Bill Ayers revolution in the making and approved by the Barack Obama's who live in grand style at the taxpayer expense...it is friends of the Obama's who are the cheer leaders of this motley crowd trashing their public lairs in cities across the nation. A miserable attempt to re-make the 50's & 60's, it failed then and is failing now. Throw the Bums out!

I had no sympathy for the woman speaker who gestured to her undyed hair as a sign of all the economic suffering she’d endured.
If they had any integrity in their thinking they would be occupying such places at the New York Times, Washington Post and the White House.
Just like in the 70s with the anti-war protests, we are watching the intellectual surrender to these new malcontents and socialist (read that communist and fascists) who are being paid and gifted grades to tear down our nation.
The push-back that is so deserving may never come unless at the polls, but I would like to see massive numbers of capitalists go in and force out the destroyers, and if some people got the snot kicked out of them in the process, it might be a very good thing.

Outside of the big cities suburbs I have seen zero of these gatherings.Even the one in Columbus and Cincinnati only have about 30 people total.This is a major fail with flyover country.
