Michelle Obama booed at Ford 400

Boos for first lady Michelle Obama were heard amid the roar of engines before the start of the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The boos could be heard as Obama and Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, were saying, "Gentlemen, start your engines" to begin the race Sunday, the South Florida Sun Sentinel in Fort Lauderdale reported.

Obama and Biden, grand marshals for the race, were invited to NASCAR's final event of the season to bring awareness to their Joining Forces initiative, which supports military families.

The women had addressed the drivers at a meeting before presiding over the ceremonial starting of the engines.

"I know this is a big day for all of you so we're not going to take up your time because you need to be focused," Obama told the drivers. "We just wanted to stop by and say thank you. NASCAR has just been amazing in terms of its support not just today, but every day, of military families."

Fascinating analysis. Axelrod?

Very calculated.

Obama is not nascar and country music, that much we know.

Is this the 900th posting of this story or only the 500th? What’s up with that?

The event organizers cleverly included the veteran and his family during the introductions. If Mrs. Obama and Mrs. Biden had been introduced by themselves, I’m sure it would have been a lot worse.

Well, It not really a “Free Rebublic” then is it? Noticed this last night when this topic got pulled several times!

Jim is free to set certain standards for his website.

You are free to adhere to those standards or go set up your own website where you can set your own standards.

That is a Constitutional position of freedom on a Constitutional website.

It is a rather odd position that your sense of freedom is based upon imposing your own standards on someone else's private property. This ain't no Zucotti Park where private property rights are curtailed.

Absolute silence speaks louder than aggressive rudeness. Even if most of us are strongly tempted to do so.

I put it up for ya up-thread, but I guess I was just being insensitive 'cause it got pulled. Seems on some threads it's OK...not so much on others.

Moochelle's misery almost makes me feel sorry for her husband. Almost, but not quite.

I put the over/under on their divorce at "2014". Esp if America dumps him in 2012. Long enough to be out of the spotlight, but quick enough so that she won't get a share of the profits of "My Life as The First Black President, volumes I - XVII"

First the Lamprey Eel makes an appearance at NASCAR,now the WH plans "a celebration of country music" (if I see that rat bastid and his brutally unattractive bride clad in demin overalls, posing on haybales, chewing on a piece of straw,i'll blow chunks!!!).....

Now,who do you suppose is going for the redneck vote? Good luck with that!!!

What nerve of “Boo-chelle” showing up to an event for Americans! Don’t they have “May Day” something for commies?

Carl was consistant all year with one win . Tony on the other hand was a mess in reg. season racing ,,,, then comes the CHASE ,,, NASCARs Las Vegas version of the lucky roll . Tony wins five out of the ten races ,,,, that’s unheard of ,, and certianly not Las Vegas style luck but a pure desire to win . Carl deserves a lot of credit for sure .

PS ,, I can’t stand the Daytona and Talledega races any more . I would like to see them take some of the banking out of those tracks so the driver has to race the track more letting off in the turns but having plenty of straight away for speed . Racing wide open is a bore ,,, two by two or in a freight train bump draft .

Barry will make sure that NASCAR ends up racing with plug-ins.

I keep seeing bits about this in Car and Driver and other magazines. it's coming, that's for sure.

I waited to opine, because I wanted to hear what went on from some one I knew who was at the event.
ROTFLMAO!
Yes, there was indeed lots of displeasure voiced that day.
Most of it aimed at the “security forces” that disrupted much of the event.
Disclaimer - I am not a “car” person, and would not have attended the event if given free tickets!(I would have passed them on to the people I know who are racing fans)

Apparently, fans who are used to showing their tickets and entering the gates, were actually subjected to physical pat downs.
Traffic was backed up for much more than twice the anticipated time.
Racing pit crews, especially the three right in front of the VIP stand, were interfered with, and their normal pre-race preparations were obstructed by secret service agents.

Racing fans watched an event many of them carefully budgeted for, took vacation time off work to attend, had been anticipating for quite some time - be hijacked, and made unpleasant, merely for a political photo-op for the wives of politicians, who lets face it, couldn't possibly have cared less about the event or the fans who paid good money to be there.

Yeah, there was a whole lot of booing going on! What idiotic PR expert thought the insertion of disruptive security measures at this particular event was a "good idea"? Since the topic is "dead for now" in the msm, I guess we won't hear of any firings on the First Lady's event planning staff. ROTFLMAO! I
