And it really had nothing to do with JFK or his policies - it was all about promises and deals old Joe made that weren’t kept.

That election was bought and paid for, and for thanks the mob got Bobby and his investigative zeal. They were not amused. Plus, Jack was fooling with somebody’s girlfriend.

I've read many books about the Kennedys and I've reached the same conclusion. If old Joe had not been incapacitated, he would never have allowed RFK go after the mob. He was an old scoundrel, but a smart one. He only screwed over other people when he knew he could get away with it.
