Democrat says Democratic Party bosses use voter fraud
Daily Caller ^ | 11-21-11 | Neil Munro

Posted on 11/22/2011 1:45:14 PM PST by bigbob

Top Democrats are aggressively pushing the claim that Republicans’ worries about voter fraud are an insincere excuse to suppress voting by African-Americans and Hispanics.

But former Alabama Democratic Rep. Artur Davis told The Daily Caller that anti-fraud measures are needed to protect African-Americans from corrupt political bosses — many of them African-Americans themselves — who run Democratic Party machines in the South.

On Nov. 14, progressive Democratic Reps. John Conyers, Steny Hoyer, Jerrold Nadler, Keith Ellison, Steve Cohen, Marcia Fudge and Emanuel Clearer, the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus — along with representatives from several advocacy groups — held a meeting to complain about what they say is the danger posed by laws that require voters to identify themselves.

Artur Davis is unimpressed.

“What I have seen in my state, in my region, is the the most aggressive practitioners of voter-fraud are local machines who are tied lock, stock and barrel to the special interests in their communities — the landfills, the casino operators — and they’re cooking the [ballot] boxes on election day, they’re manufacturing absentee ballots, they’re voting [in the names of] people named Donald Duck, because they want to control politics and thwart progress,” he told TheDC.

“People who are progressives have no business defending those individuals.”

Davis is free to talk publicly because he quit electoral politics in 2010, giving up his African-American-dominated district to run for the Democratic nomination in the 2010 gubernatorial race. He lost in the primary, and the the winning Democrat subsequently lost to the Republican by 16 points, 42 percent to 58 percent.

Telling us what we already know, but it's nice to see a Democrat who is willing to come right out and say it.

The lack of protection for the sanctity of the vote is a national disgrace.

“The lack of protection for the sanctity of the vote is a national disgrace.”

Bears repeating, over and over. Without secure and honest voting practices there is no democracy.

Much like Sanford Bishop of Georgia, Artur Davis was one of the much less radical, though still fairly liberal, black Democrats in the House. The rest are all far to the left.

They make big claims, but fail do demonstrate just how requiring legitimate credentials keeps folks out.

Of course, this claim really says that it’ll keep illigitimate folks out.

And we all know that those folks are the base of dim-bulb-crats....the party of sleeze.

held a meeting to complain about what they say is the danger posed by laws that require voters to identify themselves.

This is such a common sense thing to ensure the purity of the vote that it should be a national issue taken up by both houses of Congress. Anyone objecting to it should be shouted down and then tarred and feathered. It's that important.

I have never heard a single, decent or valid argument as to why a photo ID should not be presented before one is handed a ballot in ANY election.

The fraud exists. Those who deny it are liars.
The easiest way to stop it is photo ID at the polls. The only people who have a reason to object are those who perpetuate the fraud or benefit from it.

It is way past time to take back OUR voting process from these miscreants and charlatans.

I have never lived in a Republican Precinct but you can rest assured the Democrats run theirs the way Davis says. Just look up what a Super Delegate is and you will see something else that is corrupted. You march to the drummer in the Democrat Party or you do not march.

It really does. My dad is an 86 year old WWII veteran, and while he never talked much about that, as a kid I’d pester him about “who’d you vote for”, and that was when he would gently but firmly remind me that men have given their lives to protect our ability to cast our ballot and that it’s no one else’s business but theirs. Election fraud is tantamount to spitting in the face of those who have given everything to protect that right.

Black Panthers must be making plans for Nov 2012 even now..
Holder has given them the green light to do so...

SEIU and other Unions are busy while we speak...
Any Panthers in my area would be taking their lives in their hands to do that..
Course the the local police would be on them like a mouse on a June Bug.. here..

The police in places like Wisconsin are as corrupt as the teachers and other Union members..
May be a different situation there.. and Chicago forgetabout it..
Probaby New York and almost anywhere in Washington, Oregon, and Mexifornia.. as well..

“The lack of protection for the sanctity of the vote is a national disgrace.”

But you’re going to need a picture ID to take the SAT soon on account of a few people taking the test under false pretenses. Go figure.

so why is is that NO ONE - R or D or anything else - is EVER willing to make this an issue?

It would be a major factor if I heard a politician running on a platform that included mandatory photo ID for voting, and restoring the sanctity of the ballot box.

Instead we worry about SAT test cheats or what some bimbo says happened 20 years ago...

Artur Davis must have had an epiphany of some sort. This is the second time I’ve read here of FR about common-sense and right thinking (not political spectrum right but just “right”) remarks he has made in the last year or so. Amazing and nice to see.

After what ACORN has done in Washington State, the only way we can be assured of an accurate ballot count and no illegal votes is to register with proof of eligibility, check in at the proper precinct voting location to sign in and mark our paper ballots; Place our ballot into the ballot box; then have human beings of both parties count the ballots and recount them until they tally. No computer counting of any ballots!

Many states have gone to vote by mail, and there are rumors that voting by I-phone may be in the offing! Both methods of voting vastly increase the possibility of vote fraud! In a free society, nothing is more important than protecting our right to vote. Without it, why bother?

We should all make it clear to our individual election boards that we want to return to our former way of voting and of counting the ballots. Include writing letters to the editors in your local newspapers! If the people do nothing, we invite and tolerate vote fraud.

I is the job of the election boards to get ballots into the hands of our troops all over the world in time so that their votes will in incuded in the ballot count! Too often this has not been done!

Do the Democrats ever explain how voting is suppressed by African-Americans and Hispanics? I see temper tantrums, a lot of yelling, but no substance in how in the world a requirement for voter ID suppresses legal, one man one vote.

Voter ID is a effective and cheap way to get rid of fraud. Anyone needing a voter ID can get one free if need be.

Perhaps the Democrats protest too much.

No, really, I’m shocked.

(Ok, I’m not really shocked, just surprised that a Dem can actually tell the truth!!)
