In 1983, Eva Vachal, then 24 years old, was hired by Godfather’s Pizza. She began in the information-technology department. By 1986, when Herman Cain became president of the company, she was the corporate receptionist.

(continued) For the next decade — Cain’s entire tenure at the Omaha-based firm — she continued in that position, answering phones and assisting executives with various projects.

Vachal worked closely with Cain. They became friends. When he was profiled by Ebony magazine in April 1988, she was featured in the spread, chatting with Cain from her desk.

She was close with other young women in the office, especially the assistants to Cain and the rest of the Godfather’s brass. They frequently huddled over lunch and coffee, discussing, among other things, their bosses, including the company’s gregarious chief executive.

And never once, she says, did a woman raise an eyebrow about Cain’s conduct. In fact, in an interview with National Review Online, Vachal says that during her entire career at Godfather’s Pizza, she never heard about any improper conduct, harassment, or inappropriate behavior by Cain, even in the form of water-cooler gossip. “Believe me, receptionists know everything,” she says. “They see everything.”

After watching Cain work closely with young women for years, Vachal says she was shocked to learn of the sexual-harassment claims made by former Cain associates at the National Restaurant Association, the organization Cain led after he left Godfather’s Pizza.

The allegations have rocked Cain’s presidential campaign. With numerous allegations hovering over the candidate, many political observers have wondered whether Cain is a viable contender.

Vachal says she is speaking out because she does not believe Cain’s accusers. She also wants to shed a little light on his personality, to help voters understand who he is. She notes that she has not been in communication with the campaign or with Cain.

As she sees it, Cain was likely misinterpreted by the women who received settlements. At Godfather’s Pizza, within the executive suite, he was always a professional, she says. But he did enjoy complimenting staffers, be it on their work or on their sharp outfits.

“He had a very teasing attitude,” Vachal recalls. “He reminded me of my father and me. We’re both little rascals; we love to tease people.”

“Once in a while, he would tell me how attractive I looked in my pantsuit, or whatever, but I liked it,” she says. “I get it. I understand teasing. I don’t mind compliments.”

“People have become overly sensitive about things,” Vachal says, reflecting on the nature of the allegations. “Maybe people lack the confidence to say they’re uncomfortable, but I’ve always been able to say, ‘You’re standing too close.’ But with Herman, it was never like that.”

“I was a young girl in the Eighties,” she continues. “I was married and I had young children. He helped me to believe in myself even more.” His comments — to her and other young women, and employees of both genders — were meant to “boost people, period,” she says.

Did a search and didn’t see this article posted. Got it from Mark Levin’s FB page. Don’t know if NRO has excerpting requirement, but this continues on page two of the link. Please forgive any errors. I rarely do this.

IIRC, Gloria Alred and the other gold-diggers STFU when Lin Wood let it be known he was a “friend” of Herman Cain.

This article is out of date. Cain is no longer leading in the polls so this info is no longer needed. Articles against Newt are currently being accepted.

thank you for posting. Sadly, this young woman’s words will probably never make it to the headline news.

Cain is a threat to the liberal left, so unless one is a blonde bimbo who has difficulty keeping their boobs tucked into their shirt, or a frigid hag with no sense of humour, such statements will lay dormant for the most.

No, never too late, but that’s what the Cain haters (i.e. Obama lovers) would have us believe.

Last election McCain was near the bottom of the polls a year out from elections, but he was at the top in the end.

Take heart...CAIN for President!!!

Part of me wishes this article had gone out a month ago, but I’m sure Cain will enjoy reading it sitting by the fireside during his golden years.

Anyway, Cain should press forward and see if Iowa brings in a positive surprise for him.

G-d bless this woman for shining a light on Herman cain’s true treatment of women, which I find respectful and affectionate in a humanly way. I loved bosses or coworkers like this. They make you feel good, and competent.

He’s a good person and a great leader, who will never need to wet a finger and put it t the wind to know what his values are.

Great article, thanks for posting it.

I’ll have to add it to these testimonials about Cain’s behavior and character:

Everyone who can should try and help him in Iowa. Phone calling or donations. If he wins Iowa he will have great momentum.

Although then she pretty much says she “does” “believe them”, in that she doesn’t accuse them of lying. She says they likely misinterpreted what Cain did.

She describes things Cain did with her that were clearly not harrassment, but which she could see others might misinterpret.

IN other words, she clears Cain, while not making the women out to be liars, but rather just confused and misinterpreting and overly sensitive.

Like most Cain supporters, I never for one moment thought the accusations against Herman Cain were anything other than lies engineered by Obama/DNC operatives, intended to hurt Cain, who the left obviously feared, as he would take a portion of Obama's usually guaranteed black vote and rock the D.C. political boat, were he elected president. To the left, Cain had to be stopped. The sexual harassment accusations from the 1990's were admittedly clever, as Democrat dirty tricks usually are. Cain can't defend himself because nothing happened. All he can do is deny the accusations. Every slimeball does that. Women, specifically, were turned off to Cain, just as the Democrats hoped. Some of his supporters fled, too eager to be PC and condemn Cain for things that are, on their face, outrageous and of course, totally unsubstantiated. The old 'He said-she said'.

Unfortunately, the stink of the smear stays on Herman Cain. That is totally unfair but it is also reality, as his dropping poll numbers demonstrate. Lies and unsupported, teary sexual harassment allegations out of the past still work, especially on conservatives. The left is clever. They know how to play dirty - and win. Republicans are far less skilled in dirty tricks or dealing with false allegations. As a Cain supporter, I never wavered in my belief that Cain is a very viable presidential candidate and that the allegations were nothing but a pack of lies, probably bought and paid for by shadowy Obama/DNC operatives. I can only hope that stories and testimony like this has some effect and that Cain can surmount this vicious attack on his integrity and go on to win the Republican presidential nomination. He'll have my vote.

A little too late?

Not for me. I never believed the MSM BS.

If Cain runs he is going to get my vote, possibly barring a Palin reentry or some other newcomer.
