Setting himself far apart from his Republican colleagues, Republican presidential candidate Rep. Ron Paul on Tuesday night suggested that the U.S. should have less involvement in Israel's affairs.
"I think they're quite capable of taking care of themselves," he said.
The statement came in response to a question in a Tuesday night debate about whether the GOP candidates would, as president, support Israel in an attack against Iran.
Paul responded that he wouldn't expect such an attack to take place -- but if it were to, "Why does Israel need our help? We need to get out of their way."
The United States sends roughly $3 billion to Israel in military assistance every year.
If they were to conduct such an attack, "that's their business, but they should suffer the consequences," Paul continued. He added that Israel has hundreds of nuclear missiles, so "they can take care of themselves."

Ron Paul-—
Good on the Federal Reserve fiat money racket
Utter moron on Islam and Israel but then most atheists are and libertarians are usually atheists so I’m projecting Ron Paul is too
As far as Israel goes he might as well be Obama or any other godless Democrat
Not even the United States would be able to defend itself against a primitive enemy, if the numbers of the enemy were endless in nature.
He is very much almost asking for Israel to be defeated or to drop a nuke.
He flat out lied about taking on the Fed.
I really like the part about staying out of their way, but I think he’d turn his back on Israel when the chips were down.
There's a lot I like about Ron Paul. I am a foreign policy "realist" with leaning toward less intervention.
That said, do you want to see a scorched earth attack with Israel or anyone else using nuclear missiles?
Which would start WWIII.
Yes he would.
At the very least, he’s very much an isolationist.
But he does give me the impression that he would especially leave Israel alone.
Ron Paul has been propagandizing against the Fed for years....A good thing in my book. It is tough to bring this private bank to heel and Ron Paul is getting too old to do it. But he’s done his part.
CNN and CBS both want to keep the focus on foreign policy. This is why both made the debates they hosted about foreign policy. They want to keep the focus off of the economy for obvious reasons.
Of course he would. Most Ron Paul supporters have no use for Israel and the rest are anti-Semitic and anti-Israel. So by default they have already submitted to Islam despite being (legends in their own mind) atheists thinking they are tough realists immune to God and immune to religion.
Europe is full of atheist politicians who have pre-submitted to Islam
He has run his mouth, while undoing his own principle. He has the position right now, to do what is right. He will not. Even his supporters know he is a lying POS. But there is no option.
Blood on his hands.
Love your sig.
Thank you. It was originally a tweet (of mine).
Mind if I tweet/share it?
How do you add a sig?
I have one in mind.
My own and it’s genius, but I don’t know how to add it.
I don’t mind!
That is true, Israel can defend itself. However, Israel’s reputation is not adequate to defend itself, they need our reputation.
Publicly withdraw support, and the middle eat will likely go up in flames....
