The Gingrich Amnesty
NRO ^ | Nov 23, 2011 | Mark Krikorian

Missed the debate because of wrestling practice, but it’s hardly surprising that Newt would support amnesty for illegal aliens. After the Pelosi global-warming ad and Dede Scozzafava and “right-wing social engineering,” is it any surprise he’d adopt the left’s line on immigration too? He earned a career grade of D from Numbers USA (they calculate back to 1989). Heck, even Barbara Boxer has a career grade of D+.

.. So the Gingrich Amnesty would cover illegal immigrants here when Congress passed IRCA. That is to say, it would pick up where the previous amnesty left off, legalizing precisely those people who didn’t qualify for IRCA. This just underlines what a chump you have to be to support any deal offered you by amnesty supporters.

Which is why “enforcement first” is the only way to go: consistent, unapologetic, across-the-board enforcement of the immigration law at our consulates overseas for visa applicants, at the borders, and inside the country, especially at the worksite — without preconditions or deals or grand bargains.

Governor Jan Brewer!!!!! She kicked butt!!

Laws like Arizona and Alabama have are achievable.

Deportation is not.

If they support themselves and contribute, they stay. If not, they go. Maybe we should export our citizens who are a burden.

And how long do you think not giving them citizenship would last? He knows it wouldn’t last for long, and then the discussion would be about not treating them as “second class” people.

Newt’s position is boob bait.

Interesting that so many are all worked up but don’t give a RATS behind at what is going on at the BORDER.

Give TEXAS what we need to stop the invasion!

There is no law of nature that says it can’t. Eisenhower ran millions of illegals out in the 50s. Every last one needs to go now.

It will not tear families apart if the illegal takes his anchor babies with him when he leaves.

These people are stealing from the disadvantaged citizens of this country, and stealing jobs that should go to Americans.

No benefits, e-verify, and reimplement Operation Wetback.

Newt supports a limited, conditional amnesty not a blanket, by-right one.

How about you? Do you support a limited amnesty? Would you give amnesty to one illegal alien to send the 10-20 million rest of them home?

The answer for me is yes. In fact, anyone who says otherwise is a loon.

Now, Newt is a little more liberal. He says the line should be 25 years of good conduct and assimilation. How many is that? 10,000? 20,000? 100,000? I think I'd be OK with giving amnesty to 100,000 to send 9.9 million to 19.9 million of the rest of them home.

The political class doesn’t want to do it. Huge majorities support border enforcement and all of the self-deportation measures, etc.

No..it’s the first time we can honestly say someone has put it out there and with a plan that’s doable...

Not giving them Citizenship but legality will certainly suffice most and they’ll be glad to be here for that. No doubt one day they will ask for citizenship but at least before then the border issue will be in place...the deportations a done deal...I’m not about to let this stall because of fear on down the road when we have a muslim invasion of people here to kill us that is far more urgent.

So glad we all agree. I applaud all of you for your civility in this matter, wish it would catch on. Cursing, name calling, etc. will not make the problem go away.

Now that NEWT is willing to take the heat, he alone has opened this discussion and placed it squarely on the table, it must be dealt with in a humane, Christian and civil manner.

You guys/gals are good, keep spreading the truth.

Indeed.

All of these establishment types have had decades to address border security at a minimum and have accomplished very little.

They lack credibility.

I would say you are casting a huge net with what you say. I know you are correct about some of the things you are saying but I am talking about those who have assimilated into our society, speak English and so forth. Those people are not a burden and are not the problem. What harm are they doing you if they are law abiding, love our nation, work hard, pay taxes, educate themselves, pay their own way, go to church, have homes, root for the home team, and pay their own medical expenses? Some of them are conservatives. And I say this: enforce our borders and stop the inflow of illegals. Go Newt!

Processes can be changed. Newt and the political class are happy with the process. But even now we have lots of deportables that aren’t being deported .

Who are yoiu shilling for, anyway? Talking about “reality” and “process”, and “humanity” is the political class’s way of saying “we don’t want to do it”. We need a new political class, and that is one reason why Newt needs to be retired.

Ron Paul actually had the best answer to the question: cut off the milk.

Giving states the green light to enforce the federal law would also be a big help.

You have no idea what I don’t care or do care about! You don’t know me. I think our borders should be enforced to the extent that anyone crossing illegally should be shot on sight! Period!

Deportation is just a matter of changing who is in charge. Even now we have many deportables that the Obama administration is not deporting - just like Jorge Bush.

Eisenhower “achieved” mass deportation. If the immigration law isn’t going to be enforced, welcome to the third world.

I'd be thrown out on my ass, as would said 'commandant' husband, and rightly so.

You might want to risk that, though, if you'd ever heard the words, "I'm going, the babies are going with me, and either you come along or you will never see them again. You can stay here and sell your body on the street. Try to stop me and I will beat you unconscious."

You probably find that thumpingly dramatic, but let me assure you it's commonplace in some neighborhoods.

My point stands. Some had no choice, no recourse, no rescuers, no protectors, no courts of law, no sanctuary.

It might surprise you to know that such persons exist today as well.

But if you do not think justice ought to be tempered with mercy, at least consider tempering it with knowledge and sanity.

It is fantasy to think it would work that way. Newt is shilling for the political class, and this is just a wedge that will eventually lead to full citizenship.
