Giving amnesty to illegal immigrants will greatly increase long-term costs to the taxpayer. Granting amnesty to illegal immigrants would, over time, increase their use of means-tested welfare, Social Security, and Medicare. Fiscal costs would rise in the intermediate term and increase dramatically when amnesty recipients reach retirement. Although it is difficult to provide a precise estimate, it seems likely that if 10 million adult illegal immigrants currently in the U.S. were granted amnesty, the net retirement cost to government (benefits minus taxes) could be over $2.6 trillion.

None of this really matters.
After Obama begins his second term, he will find a way. Obama will find the money.... he will get this done.... and everyone will be damn glad that Newt wasn’t fouling it all up.
Obama or Romney 2012......
It will cost way more that 2.6 trillion. It will cost us our nation and heritage. It will put our posterity in peril.
The ACLU, La Raza and our so called “courts” will do that once something like this is passed. And it won’t be offered. It will be given along with a hefty check from a class action lawsuit.
Easiest way to get rid of the illegals is make them pay taxes. They consume resources, paying taxes will offset it.
I have no problem with illegals staying here. But the wall has to come first, the inability to vote hasbto be included and some other consequences.
There is no verifiable data that there are only 10 million, or 11 million illegals in the United States. Illegals don’t call in to report their presence and whereabouts.
All studies made so far - Pew, Census, CIS - rely on assumptions and models that are wide open to subjective guesses and WAGs. All of them. The math majors can explain it to you with matrices and partial differential equations if you have the time and if you are not political science or journalism majors where math is beyond your grasp.
The fact is that they have been using that 11 million figure since around 2003, in spite of all observation that the illegal alien footprint has spread immensely since 2003, from border states to places like Maine, Virginia, Long Island, Minnesota, even Hawaii.
Thus the costs of illegal aliens is far beyond any estimates you can make based on that 11 million number. The penny saved on the cost of labor for that apple you buy at the market is more than cancelled out by the extra welfare, medical, educational, and benefits costs you pay to service the mostly welfare-based aliens.
Newt Gingrich lives in a world where he can give his wife a million dollar jewelry account at Tiffany’s. His mansion does not have any illegals living next door with 10 ladder trucks. His kids aren’t forced to listen to Spanish in classrooms. He doesn’t wait in the emergency room where the illegals get basic primary care, for free. He doesn’t have his multi-million dollar consultant contracts out-competed by a firm using $10/hr off-the-books alien labor.
Sorry Newt, but you represent the 1%. The rest of us who face the illegal alien problem daily are the true 99%.

There are over 7 billion people in the world.
They all can’t immigrate here.
So we have to choose - which ones get to immigrate here ?
We already have made that choice: those that come here legally.
Right - that 11 or 12 million figure has been thrown around for years and everyone just repeats it. NO ONE knows for sure - it could be 25 million. Most Americans are having less children or no children while paying for schools for them. No one wanted to touch this mess for years - the politicians just gave us more of a mess with their lack of action on this issue.
We should put a halt on any legal immigration until we get our house in order. Maybe by 2014 we will have a better handle on it. Right now we don’t have jobs for Americans.

For Newt Gingrich, if you get away with a crime long enough, you are home free. Not only free, but you also get a reward - a green card or even citizenship.
Het Newt - if I avoid paying my income taxes for 25 years, am I off the hook? Do I get a reward?
If I was a pedophile before 1986, but am now a good family man, am I off the hook?

He doesn’t have to. He knows FULL WELL that the judges will take care of it. They are simply not going to sit by and watch another HUGE GROUP of Americans being prevented from voting. Heck, the judges today are barley able to prevent CONVICTED FELONS from voting - and now we expect them to be part of preventing a huge group of new Americans from voting?

You don’t have to convince me - I thought there might be some sense here and didn’t need to spell everything out. THEY are ALL criminals - that’s a given and doesn’t need to be said as if someone doesn’t know that already. Get a grip! I meant the majority of them are here are not here to start a new life, as Newt presents the grandma, grandkids, church, but criminal activity.
You know what Bob - I have NO idea what to expect anymore. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE and I’m afraid NOTHING will be done.
And they are coming across our borders as we speak. They kill our guys, IMO, that is terrorism. Our military should be on that border with amno and shoot any mofo that takes one step over the border.
We act like all we need to do is round them up and send them back - how easy do you think that will be. I remember reading an illegal went into the Catholic Church and they harbored her there and we were the bad guys. You think many won’t go there in masses if they heard they are going to be deported? There doesn’t seem to answers because we have enemies within who don’t give a flying ***k about our country as long as they are fuzzy and warm - trying to appear ‘holy’ while harboring criminals.
Some Americans will do anything for a buck - some make them fake ID’s, a company hires them and Mitt hires the company while acting innocent. I read where Motor Vehicle employees were caught giving out driver licenses to those w/false ID’s. They were caught and how many weren’t? Years ago, I remember some politicians and a judge had illegals as hired help. McCain must, also. After all, he said if we don’t hire them our lettuce will be $50 a head. And an AZ rancher got killed by illegals on his own property and AZ voted McCain in again! And years go by, things get worse - now our citizens are being killed and life goes on. They start businesses and undercut legitimate businesses because they have overhead expenses, like taxes! So legitimate business now hire them off the books. Do you have a doable solution?
Criminals need to go back. Empty the prisons and send them back. Every illegal who is working needs to have employer sponsorship and put on the books.
Unemployed need to tag up. If they choose to leave families in the US, there are no benefits paid up until the person returns with a valid green card.
Unemployed isn’t an excuse because if they are unemployed they are not taking jobs Americans won’t do. If they are employed, let them get sponsored and on the books so they can pay taxes.
And none of this happens until the wall is built.
