Very true, Eric. And in fact what passes for "a Conservative" today, looks a lot more like a Rockefeller Republican -- Goldwater's enemies in the GOP --than it does like anything Goldwater would recognize as being Conservative.
I was a little kid back in the 1960's, so my main memories of Goldwater were in the 1980's when he was chewing out Ronald Reagan for cozying up to the Reverend Jerry Falwell's "Moral Majority".
If you get a chance to look at, I ran across an interesting page filled with political quotes by and about politicians from the 1960 -- 1985. One of them was a Goldwater quote:
"I fear Washington and centralized government more than I do Moscow."
Yes, it's something that Ron Paul also might have said at the time.
But then again, this one was pure Barry Goldwater:
"Hubert Humphrey talks so fast that listening to him is like trying to read Playboy magazine with your wife turning the pages."

Interesting that so many Republicans can overlook the 40-50% that is wrong with the other candidates while decrying Paul. You can’t trust most of the other candidates to begin with. At least Paul will do what he says.

Now, if the MSM and RINO crowds finally admitted he was RIGHT (with maybe one or two exceptions in the primary crowd), that would be news.
