AUSTIN Gov. Rick Perry issued the following statement on the failure of the supercommittee:
Ultimately, responsibility for this failure lays at President Obamas feet. The whole reason a supercommittee was created was because the President wasnt willing to lead, wasnt willing to even put on paper his plans for cutting spending. Its amazing to what lengths he will go to avoid making tough decisions. And who pays the price for Washingtons failure? The American people and our military personnel, who will now be subjected to a half trillion dollars in national defense cuts?
The President and Congress should work through the Thanksgiving holidays, work through weekends and recesses to cut federal spending, undo the damage being done to our military personnel and fix the budget mess. Our military gets the job done in life-threatening conditions every day, its time the President and Congress get serious about cutting federal spending and balancing the federal budget.
The supercommittees failure is the perfect illustration of how Washington is broken and needs to be seriously overhauled. As President, I will demand a complete overhaul of Washington, D.C. starting with a Balanced Budget Amendment, a part-time citizen Congress, and major tax and spending cuts to jump-start our economy and create good American jobs. We can fix the system with my flat tax and serious reforms cutting taxes to a flat 20 percent, ending earmarks and corporate tax loopholes, and balancing the federal budget by 2020.

This is just how Rick Perry is. After Hurricane Ike devastated my community, he came here to survey the damage. He did not just walk through here surrounded by security and news cameras and then make a speech. That's not Perry. He showed up in jeans and a work shirt, no cameras, no press conference, and he walked among all of us who had been hit. A hug, a pat on the shoulder, a listening ear, and an encouraging word. He saw to it that emergency shelters were being set up and food and water were available to everyone. When Obama/FEMA refused to help us, Governor Perry set up state funding to help us rebuild our homes and our lives. My home is at 'ground zero' where Ike came ashore. We all took tremendous damage. FEMA sent me a check two months later for $600 dollars. Governor Perry set up the Recovery Fund to help us all rebuild. That is what a true leader and a true Christian does. That's my Governor! I can't wait to see America under the caring wing of Rick Perry.
Campaign website announcements are not extended news, please do not post into sidebars.
Thanks.
I don’t know about Perry’s promises, and know little about him, but his words here are correct to the letter.
A lack of leadership is the greatest problem. That and leading us full force in the wrong direction.
It’s hard to lead from his couch on Air Force One, going to exotic places and vacationing with the 1%
Amen! Perry is absolutely right. You can bet he wouldn’t have spent last Monday holding a hoe down with country music artists while the clock counted down to the Super Committee deadline.
Perry is 100% dead on.
I notice that Cain has taken all reference to depending on the super committee to pass his 999 plan from his wep site.
I hope Perry has it all cached.
I have been critical of that since the beginning.
The media is saying this is a big win for Obama. Taxes are going up and the Pentagon getting hit hard. I don’t know what the general public believes. I think Obama knew what he was doing from the beginning. He got everything he wanted.
Perry has done nothing but blame the federal government for open borders, all the while sitting on twelve or so billion rainy day fund...we still have open borders.
Tried to shove by executive order Gardasil injections for young school aged girls. No vote, no debate...executive order.
Perry had fought to raise taxes. True. He also instituted a massive Toll Road program. I guess fees really aren't a tax.
Under Perry's leadership, he attempted to confiscate thousands of acres of private farm and ranch land to build a super highway (TTC) from Mexico through the state utilizing Spanish contractors. He also, with the help of the feds, pushed through the Mexican trucker pilot program.
Put two and two together, you get a foreign built, foreign operated super highway, utilizing foreign trucks to ship foreign(Chinese)goods from Mexico into the Interior of the U.S. from deep sea ports being constructed in Mexico.
This would circumvent American dock workers, truckers, security and all satellite operations to ship goods into this country.
Perry also allowed anti-sanctuary city legislation to die before State lawmakers. This would have mandated State law enforcement to check the immigration status of people committing crimes or could not produce documents to verify legal status.
Perry pushed through and won In State Tuition's for illegals.
Perry, once a democrat who supported Hillary Care, worked on the Al Gore's campaign is now a republican...re-branded by Karl Rove himself.
I'm not making this stuff up, fact check for ones self.
Perry is a political animal, drifts with the political winds to remain in power. He’z not who he appears to be!
Super Committee is not even constitutional, is it? Others like Newt, have also been scrubbing their sites especially on his amnesty stance.
Oh I had forgotten about that. Yes, I too have read that...thanks for reminding me.
Now we have Mexican truckers on ALL American highways.
Now I wish we had that corridor.

At this point I wonder if any of them are what they appear to be.
What a stinking mess.
We should be in a position to take the Senate the House and the Presidency and at this point we may be lucky to save the House.
The Candidates are so busy cutting each other down and so quiet about the Muslim in the White House that Obama is beginning to look like a shoo-in.
They should be attacking him and his policies and especially Obamacare and the EPA.
I have seen F5 tornadoes spin less than you.
I don’t believe it is constitutional.
It removes congressional representation of the people.
Raise taxes, cut defense and offer cover to both sniveling little, elite parties who didn't want ownership for any of it.
I may just have to take a re-look at Perry.
Damn, why can’t it be a little easier?
I have seen F5 tornadoes spin less than you.
Rather than taking shots, why don't you tell the poster where he got it wrong?
