So anyway, I decided to visit the DUmp to see what they were talking about, and I saw this thread on the front page:
Approximately 75 people met up this morning at a transit center with the knowledge of flash mob that will happen and nothing else. I was a little apprehensive being that I didn't know how we could incoroprate dancing into the 99% movement, nor having much ability to dance. Their idea on the flash mob was that we'd all enter Walmart inconspicuously and shop for 30 minutes, filling up our carts as much as possible. Then we'd meet at the front to check out and the first person to get up to a checker calls asks the cashier to page their child (Michael Check) to the checkstand cause they're ready to leave, and then right after the page:
MIC CHECK! Citizens of Walmart!! Greetings and welcome back from the food coma!! In the spirit of holiday giving, we believe a discussion is in order about the meaning of value and low cost. For every low-priced product purchased at Walmart, your communities pay the difference. Every price drop represents mistreated workers who STILL cannot feed their families, STILL cannot afford their homes, and STILL cannot payoff their tuitions. Every sweet deal can be attributed to our jobs being outsourced from American communities. Each item on sale helps bankrupt small businesses. YOU, YOUR COMMUNITIES, AND YOUR WORKERS ARE BEING ABUSED!! Walmart intentionally underemploys, forgoing REAL benefits for social services, costing California taxpayers $86 million annually. Walmart employees are overworked, underpaid, and left under-insured in poor and unsafe conditions. Walmart could fire its employees for the mere mention of forming a workers union; which is the best tool American workers have to protect their rights. Corporate beasts such as this one bleed our communities dry by putting the local business owners, who actually have personal stake in your communities, at a disadvantage against these gluttonous juggernauts. Yet they have the nerve to tell you it's for your benefit. WE DO NOT HAVE TO BUY THE SCAM!! WE DO NOT HAVE TO BUY DOLLAR-COLLARS FOR OUR FAMILIES!! WE DO NOT HAVE TO BUY ANY OF THIS!! SELF-MADE GIFTS HAVE MORE POWER ANYWAY!! So this holiday season, give yourselves, your families, and your communities the gift of empowerment!! ACT LOCALLY!! SHOP SMALL BUSINESS!! BUY AMERICAN!! Thank you, Exit Safely, and remember to smile...
After that there was applause as we all 75 left our carts and exited the disgusting, big box store. We received thumbs ups from employess, smiles from most, claps at the end, and when walking out the three cops there smiled at us as we walked past shouting, "We are the 99%, YOU are the 99%!" We did the same to a second Walmart and then had to call it a day since other activities were planned.
Sorry for the length, I didn't know how else to post the mic-check. It was entirely envigorating.
There was one a**hat that charged past us and screamed "You f*****g socialists!" Yes, a good laugh; as what a prime example he was setting for his 7 or 8 year old daughter he was dragging along while huffing and puffing. BTW, did Occupy ever say they were for socialism? LOL... Well, heaven forbid they ever need Social Security or Medicare...
Age range from was from 2-80; quite the mix of races present; very much a good example of the 99%.
I am proud to stand in solidarity with Occupy San Diego.
It's one thing to go in there and chant (which is still annoying), but to holler that the Walmart workers are oppressed, overworked, and unfairly treated and leave 75 carts full of merchandise for them to put away is outrageous. A couple posters actually pointed this out, and have a look at this delusional reply:
I bet they appreciated being defended and respected by the flash mob much more The work? Who gives a s***. But having a bunch of people doing a mic check on how abusive your bosses are and how hard your life is made by your bosses? Priceless.
Check out the video here:
do you think any of that actually happened?
Good grief - what a pack of A-holes.
>>do you think any of that actually happened?<<
No. Remember the DUmmie rules:
Rule 1) DUmmies lie. All the time. Even when they don’t have to.
Rule 2) See Rule #1
We received thumbs ups from employess, smiles from most, claps at the end, and when walking out the three cops there smiled at us as we walked past shouting, "We are the 99%, YOU are the 99%!"
I don’t believe customers, employees and whomever clapped with a smile on their face.
If any did, it was probably due to fear of being trampled by the OWS.
I’m sure all 75 of the OWSbots cheered the announcement, but permit me to doubt that the workers did. Holiday weekend, family visiting, and they get to stay after hours cleaning this mess up again.
Don’t like Walmart? Then don’t shop there.
I don’t know if it did, but if so they left a pile of work for the already oppressed workers.
Unlikely. I have never heard Wall-mart page someone.
I would have found their leaving the carts funny, but the speech would have gotten under my skin real quick.
I love having insane people as the public face of Liberals and Democrats! May the insanity continue long and drive more and more voters to our side!
That’ll show those Walton capitalist pigs. They’ll have to come down to that Wal-Mart themselves to empty those carts and re-stock the shelves.
Good grief, they are acting like a bunch of 12 year olds.
How about if they occupy a job at WalMart instead.
I’m wondering how much stuff was stolen? With most of those crowds we have seen, I’d bet it’s a lot.
“YOU, YOUR COMMUNITIES, AND YOUR WORKERS ARE BEING ABUSED!!”
Millions in America and around the world would give anything for a decent paying job, but can’t because of socialist policies of the Obama admin. Yet this is OWS cause celeb. Brilliant.
Exactly. They will have to do their regular work AND re-shelving the stuff before the day is over. I don't think they are planning to stay late tonight.
These occupy people are mean bastards. They don't care about the 1% nearly as they care about their egotistical little selves and selfish schemes.
What a bunch of sanctimonious creeps. They can’t even read their own talking points from a piece of paper. I think the only ones clapping it up and smiling were them. The funny thing is - they really think this means something.
So what? They screwed their minimum wage brethren who will now have to clean up after their childish mess.
You know IF this did happen as described, I am guessing the buggies would be filled with freezer and refrigerator items. As to cause the most loss to WM. Melting ice cream would cause a mess as well as ruined merchandise.
I take it by the fact the comments you posted aren’t the ones at the source YouTube link that the ‘I stand with them’ commentary is your own?
Stores will now begin charging for the use of carts. $5 a cart, non refundable.
Occupy asshats would not want to part with that just for a protest. Even if it was someone else’s money.
One Wal-Mart where I’ve gone in the Chicago area had a manager or something who was getting paged every fifteen minutes or so every time I visited. The other one nearest to me, nary a peep. Don’t most department or higher Wal-Mart managers carry portable waist phones that they can be personally called on?
Unlikely. That would mean shoppers and employees all stood back and watched someone take over a cashier’s station to give their 5 minute speech?? Yeah.
The DUmmies have a long history of making absurd claims of shouting their slogans in grocery store lines and recieving applause and adulation and even claiming to convert conservatives this way.
It’s ridiculous of course, but the DUmmies never seem to catch on.
No. That post was from DU. You can see the DU link under it. My commentary is under the DU link.
Just had the same thought. The answer is no.
overexaggerated is an understatement. We are talking about DUmmies, they never tell the truth.
OWS lives in a delusional world where they think the real 99% support them. I can’t tell you how many times I have been in a public place in the past few months (bar, airport, restaurant, etc) where OWS was on the news on the TV and your average joe worker expressed complete disgust at these punks. They are nothing more than a bunch of spoiled brats who need to occupy a job.
They only stand for their own egos.
One thing I know, if anyone ever comes to me with a resume and I find out they were an ‘Occupy’ protestor, it will go right in File 13.
Some parents should be proud of the job they did raising greedy, entitled, lazy, destructive children. Both parent and child should be spanked.
There is video at the Youtube link.
Many people love to hate Wal-Mart, and there have been stories about suppliers who claimed to sacrifice more than they bargained for when they entered into super size deals with Wal-Mart. (Though it’s hard for me to understand why they didn’t say no up front, based on cold economic calculations.) But in expensive socialist paradises like Hawaii, Wal-Mart (and Costco) with their ability to deal in volume have been the saviors of many a cash-strapped shopper. Don’t these OWS monsters care about the POOR poor? To whom Wal-Mart makes a great deal of difference?
So it’s the unions behind this. Walmart shoppers and employees are being fooled.
Aldi’s only charges a quarter for using the carts and you get it back when you return it. If you see a bunch in the parking lot, bring them back in and get quarter each.
I am astounded by the number of adults I run into around New England on a daily basis that act like twelve year olds...
I doubt anyone would put having been an Occupier on a resume looking for a job, but still... especially since this is getting into the winter, not the summer when people traditionally take vacations they are not expected to account for.
They've gone unanswered for too long. Real Americans are getting tired of their nonsense. The rejection of the freeloaders will escalate as well.
You would be surprised what people put on resumes. Professional bloggers- File 13
Political activist- File 13
Human rights protestor- File 13
You Tube video producer- File 13
PJ, this is PRIME DUFUable material, the DU thread plus the accompanying Youtube video. I don’t know if I’ll have time to get to it today—maybe—so if you beat me to it, oh well. Otherwise, I may have to wait till tomorrow.
There is a time to cuss... and even children should know it. But I think this still likely is an exaggerated account, embellished with lies meant to make the stupid OWS goons... well, fool themselves I guess. They’re not fooling John Q. Public.
Unless it was something you could visit and vet out... you wouldn’t necessarily want to send something like Jim Rob’s experience to a circular file.
There is video of it at the Youtube link. I don’t think they got the public response they are claiming, though. The camera focuses mainly on them.
Oh, I’m glad you saw this. I was thinking this would make a perfect DUFU.
ThIs is a common syndrome in liberal internet folklore. Supposedly receive accolades in all sorts of places. Dementia.
