It is ridiculous. But maybe even McCain couldn’t break up his holiday weekend.

One unelectable candidate: Huntsman - tho I like him better than I did at first.

Two former secretaries of state—maybe they have a clue about what’s going on in the middle east — I don’t.

Hey Fish...sorry for the thread drift but whaddya think of the new translations and the move to singing everything. Personally I don’t like the singing because we have a song leader who is terrible. His daughter is a professional opera singer, but she sure didn’t get her talent from him. We have two non singing masses, but it looks like thats gonna change. Some unhappy people if that happens.

Regarding Newt: Live by the mouth, die by the mouth.

He had it going for him but, as always, he couldn’t shut up.

After seeing what happened to Perry because he did something decent for kids of illegals (actually, he didn’t — the Texas legislature did and it was not a sentimental decision but a practical one), Newt still shoots his mouth off.

He’ll do that again.

He has a million ideas and many of them are good but he’s so will-o-the wisp, he’ll fly off onto something else before he gets any of them implemented.

I have been thinking a lot about the illegal problem and this morning I had some strange ideas. I may end up posting them and be cursed forever. We’ll see.

I will vote for whoever gets the nomination on the GOP side. I do not think the nation can withstand 4 more years of Obama. We will end up as he intends, barefoot and in rags, wandering the landscape foraging for food with the dogs.

I agree.  I am not passionate over any of the GOP candidates but any of them would be superior to 0.  It is important that we retake the US Senate and expand the base of Tea Party supported US Representatives.

On a local level it's important to get conservatives elected to school boards because these kids will be the next generation the Democrats are brainwashing.

Gotta say, that is hysterical. Your dem sister thought Michele was a Mormon.

It’s so easy to get her and Mitt mixed up! :)

My big beef with the Episcopal church (well, one of many).

We have a really good choir and organist but nothing to sing.

I announced in Bible class one day that 8 out of 10 Episopal hymns are ghastly and we never sing the other two.

The only reaction I got was from someone who said, ‘make that 9 out of 10.’

I protest by not getting my hymnal out for the bad songs, but nobody notices or cares.

My sister is not a church person. To her, all of those “strange” branches of Christianity (you know, the ones which actually have some rules) are all the same, except for Catholics, because her first husband was a Catholic.

She just figured because Bachmann wasn’t a Catholic but had lots of children she was a Mormon. (Can you see me rolling my eyes here?)

Everything did change this morning but as an exalted and well-respected member of the choir, we had practiced all the new songs right along.

I dunno, I don’t have any great problem with the changes though I’m not sure about singing everything. We already sing everything save the Creed thing. I do wonder why the church does this sort of thing, once in a while just up and changing everything. Not at all sure what purpose it serves.

The biggest shocker is the response to when the priest says “the Lord be with you”. All my life the response has always been, like I could take it to the bank....”and also with you”. It’s like so ingrained and of course you extend your hand to the priest.

It was like everything about being Catholic though I’ll admit that’s a bit silly.

But now you say “and with your spirit”.

Nothing insulting or anything but why, I must ask?

While I seldom miss your insightful “Sunday Morning Talk Show” thread, I have survived recently by tuning out the actual talk shows. For the most part the propaganda is highly predictable and coincides with the weekly DNC talking points. The POLS that I respect seldom make the lineup.

For the past few weeks the presidential candidates have been mowed down like the brave men at Pickett’s charge. I post this morning with an empty feeling that the bad guys are taking a toll on our Country and that any hope of changing the destruction of our future is slipping away. Bray’s essay only confirms my fears.

I definitely need to get a butt kicking motivational injection. I know that the Sunday shows seem to bring me down. Help!

Because the Latin says “et cum spiritu” and has since the 4th century. Every other language already was using a translation which means “and with your spirit” EXCEPT the English.

I always thought “and also with you” sort of sounded like “likewise, I’m sure.”

The English translation which was just replaced (after years of wrangling and whining and foot-dragging by the liberal wing of the bishops) was done back in those heady post Vatican II days when the liberals thought they were going to take over the Church. It was dumbed-down for the American laity whom the liberals thought couldn’t handle the true translation, and they inserted phrases which watered down the theology.

I am glad to see a more formal and accurate translation. A bonus is that some of the horrible hymns and musical compositions of the liturgy are now out. I am really tired of a few of the worst hymns, which seem to be recycled each month.

In business I loved change. I managed a large law firm and when I hired staff I warned them if they didn’t like change they wouldn’t be happy working for me. I made changes to improve operations, not for change sake. They complained anyway.

People don’t like change, so I’m sure there will be lots of complaints for awhile...but I agree “but with your spirit”. What is that?????

Well, here is how I view this. It is our duty to press forward, regardless of what Obama does.

We are descended of people who crossed the Atlantic (and in some cases the Pacific) at great personal risk, or from people who came over later in steerage with only the clothes on their backs.

We made it through the Depression, the Dust Bowl, two World Wars, Korea, Vietnam, and two Gulf Wars.

We are descended from those who lived through the Hundred Years War, the Scottish Clearances, the Black Plague, the great Fire of London, and many other horrible episodes of history.

Despite what Obama thinks and says, we are a tough people. And one thing Americans do NOT like is someone telling them what to do, whether it is to eat argula or drive a battery operated car.

I make note here that my daughter (who voted for Obama) now despises him as a liar and a phony, and wants someone in the Oval Office who can do something constructive about the economy. Be of good cheer!

Thanks MM. I appreciate your response and pray that your daughter’s “180” is indicative of a tidal change in the American culture.

Well, Dr. bray, I think you have correctly diagnosed the problem.

The BIG question is, what are we going to do about it?

I fear our 'Hitler' is already seated in the White House. Will Constitutionally minded Americans have the wherewithal to remove him before he starts opening the camp doors for business? Or, will it just be business and more politics as usual?

2012 is the most crucial election in our history. If we fail this test, we will fail... period.
