Perry is nearly perfect with regards to his gun record.

I’m not a single issue voter. I have three: Life, RKBA and borders. I’m not yet at the point in this campaign where I’m willing to accept two out of three.

He’s generally has a very good record, but just like the straw man in the wizard of Oz, if he only had a brain. That being said, maybe an ad blitz could save him. Or perhaps a brain transplant from Paul Ryan.

What are the issues in which you disagree with Rick Perry?

A bit on illegal alien tuition in Texas, and the lack of a continous border fence but not much. He is pretty good on the issues. But, you know, he was not very articulate in the debates. If he can gain some steam ...
I would love to vote for him vs zero. He could be a very good prez.

I didn’t know people could do that ... just found out. Go on someone else’s post and add keywords.
That ain’t right, mods. Hello?????

I like this feature. I frequently add keywords to threads in order to make them easier to retrieve. On this particular thread, I added the keyword "firearms."

NR means not rated, not flunk. GOAs ratings are based on voting records.

Just bought two Glocks, and am looking for a rifle. Hell yeah, 2A means a lot.

I too hope that he will gain steam. He is a good man and I believe that he will make a great President.

Based on voting records only in part and when applicable, it would seem. There's also the questionaire. So far, it appears Mr. NR is flunking.

Thanks for that link. I had no idea Newt was a C-! I’ve been turning his way big time, but now I’m going to have to hear him make some aweful big promises on a big stack of Bibles to get my support now.

That the candidates from Texas are pro-gun doesn't impress me. What do you expect them to be? If Perry had run for Texas Governor on a "gun control" platform, it would have been political suicide. He knows it, you know it, and I know it. Stop the presses: a pro-gun candidate from Texas. In other shocking news, candidates from Iowa have a pro-agricultural record and candidates from Florida have a pro-seniors record.

I'm far more impressed by people who compile strong conservative records in a state where it's NOT trendy to do so. Bachmann in Minnesota and Santorum in Penn. being the obvious examples. Pawlenty was on the list too, until Perry shoved him out the race.

IF your argument holds sway:
A non-Texas, non-gun, non-agriculture, non-senior, candidate from neither Tx or IW. Are any of those "other" candidates around that might pass Tea Pary nuster?
I'm far more impressed by people who compile strong conservative records in a state where its NOT trendy to do so.

Tea Party said what it said. The Republican Party can boff around all it wants; a solitary fact remains.

Sorry, he doesn't get any brownie points for me for being pro-gun when the solidary fact remains he HAD to hold that position in order to have a political career in Texas. Do you see any grabbers holding statewide office in Texas? Me either.

Wait...

Just to clarify...do you actually believe that Perry is strong on the 2A for political expediency? I think that’s what you said.

Do a little reading and you’ll find he’s a life-long hunter, target-shooter and self-protection guy.

Once you know that, don’t you agree it’s reaching a bit to deny that he is a “true” 2A guy?

You diminish yourself.

It would seem that Gov. Perry doesn’t just “hold that position” he practices it every day.
