Massachusetts Rep. Barney Franks decision to retire at the end of his current term means the probable elevation of California Rep. Maxine Waters to the top Democratic slot on the House Financial Services Committee. She is, after all, next in line in seniority behind Frank.
But not everyone in Washington is convinced it will be an automatic rise. There is considerable speculation that Waters, 73, could face a challenge from another Democrat, especially if it becomes possible that the Democrats could re-take the House.

Maybe Maxine will get a clue and retire too.
Maxine is not bright enough to recognize a clue, much less a kick in the butt.
Maxine is a corrupt socialist and unfortunately my representative. given she is getting wealthy skimming off the taxpayers she won’t ever leave.
I’d love to see her net worth before and after her stint in the House. Include husband as she uses him in her shenanigans.
Bet she was a poor black woman that pulled herself up by the taxpayer’s bootstraps.
I think Republicans should support Maxine as the chair. After all, there is nothing like giving her particular brand of willful ignorance a larger forum to open people’s eyes to reality. And, in theory, it would only be until the 2012 elections.
Yeah...like a sewer
She is the face of the Democrap party. Put her in there, her stupidity will astound the public.
“especially if it becomes possible that the Democrats could re-take the House.”
It’s possible that monkeys will fly out of my butt, also.
Whatever happened to her ethics review? Swept under the rug?
