First lawsuit filed vs. Jerry Sandusky (Penn State)
ESPN ^ | November 30, 2011 | Associated Press

PHILADELPHIA -- Former Penn State assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky sexually abused a young boy more than 100 times after meeting him through the charity he founded, then threatened the boy's family to keep him quiet about the encounters, according to a lawsuit filed Wednesday. The lawsuit identifies the plaintiff, an adult, only as John Doe.

It claims Sandusky abused the boy at the coach's State College home, at Penn State facilities and on at least one bowl game trip. The plaintiff is not among eight victims named in a grand jury report released earlier this month that detailed a series of alleged assaults involving Sandusky and boys as young as 10. . . .The abuse began [in 1992] and lasted until 1996, the suit said.

Just heard this on my radio’s news break. It’s on HuffPo, too.

I’m surprised that one of the parents of his victims didn’t just shoot the pervert.

The guy brought ten-year-old boys as dates to Penn State dinners and sat up on the dais with them! Then brought them back to his hotel room.

And we're supposed to believe that everybody on that staff didn't know exactly what was going on?!

It's really such a sick and demented situation. I'm guessing they all just joked about 'ol Jerry and his weird sexual fixations, while the little boys fiddled with their dinners, dreading what was ahead.

“dreading what was ahead”

Can you just imagine the total hell the boys went through waiting for the inevitable abuse. Everyone around them laughing and enjoying life as if no one in the world cared what happened to them.

There has to be a special place in hell for the abuser and these enablers.

***I’m surprised that one of the parents of his victims didn’t just shoot the pervert.***

Reason #1. Absent fathers; explains why the boys were vulnerable and easily seduced by a big sports guy substitute.

Reason #2. Single, poor and/or troubled mothers.

Reason #3. The Second Mile charity for ‘at risk’ youth; a blatantly diabolical grooming stable.

That's how the trash gets taken out in Louisiana.

Let’s get this straight. There was no molestation. This was rape.

I think the coverup goes way further than Penn State officials, all the way up to the current occupant of the PA Governor’s office.

I finally looked up the statute of limitations in Pennsylvania for these heinous crimes:

Q: How long does the Commonwealth have to file charges in a case involving child abuse?

A: The statute of limitations was extended to give the Commonwealth until the child victim’s 50th birthday, to file charges.

Very interesting, Joe 6-pack. Five years probation. There was justice in Louisiana. I guess they couldn’t just let him go completely free. I don’t blame the Dad at all.

And one that looked the other way for over 6 years.

The Grand Jury Presentment reports that Penn State Officials let some info flow to Second Mile about Sandusky in 2002. Yet he continued to conduct sports camps around the state for 4th graders on up until it came out that he was under investigation in '08.

Article says Second Mile Foundation & Penn State also named in suit.

I suppose the insurance companies will be the ones forking out all kinds of monies on behalf of these two entities.

Hopefully, this will spur on the other attorneys to quickly ready their cases and absolutely flood the State College judicial system with these things -- while overwhelming the defense attorneys @ Second Mile & Penn State.

The attorney was quoted as saying Presentment identifies 17 adults who had "signs or signals" of what was going on and instead chose to protect "the institution."

Some of people's real gods that they serve are institutional. "Glory be to the institution."

The guy brought ten-year-old boys as dates to Penn State dinners and sat up on the dais with them! Then brought them back to his hotel room.

Many NCAA Division I football teams bring their players and coaches together the night before a home football game and stay at some (nice) hotel rather than scattered on campus. Before home games, Penn State players and coaches stay at the Toftree's Golf Resort and Conference Center.

Sandusky brought boys with him for those pre-game sleepovers. The boys sat with Sandusky at the coaches' table for the pre-game banquets. They spent the night at Toftree's (we don't know if they had a separate room from Sandusky) and Sandusky molested them those nights after the pre-game banquets.

What disturbs me most is that the "long investigation" that started in early May 1998 was apparently finished before May 1999. May 1999 is when Paterno told Sandusky that, although he had been the heir apparent to Paterno, he would not succeed Paterno as head coach of Penn State. Sandusky announced his surprise early retirement on July 1, 1999 effective at the end of the 1999 football season.

Many people have said that Joe Paterno took care of the matter by telling Sandusky he wouldn't succeed him. They've referred to that as "getting rid of Sandusky." However, Sandusky had an entire season left to coach. And if Paterno knew about the 1998 investigation (and all investigators believe he did), then Sandusky also had the 1998 season to coach.

That means that during at least the 1999 season, and probably the 1998 season, Sandusky brought Victim #4 (thirteen during 1998, and fourteen during 1999) to the pre-game banquets at Toftree's. Paterno said at the coaches' table with Sandusky and his child date. Paterno knew Sandusky had a problem, at least during the entire 1999 season, and probably during the 1998 season as well. Yet Sandusky was allowed to bring a boy to those banquets and to spend the night at an official Penn State football team function.

Sandusky molested the boy in the shower and room at those overnight retreats.

Penn State allowed Sandusky to bring the boy to the 1998 Outback Bowl and the 1999 Alamo bowl. Sandusky molested the boy there.

And with this lawsuit, we're finding out that Sandusky was apparently bringing a boy around with him before 1998, and to bowl game(s) before 1998.

According to Penn State and Paterno apologists, you're supposed to believe they didn't know what was going on. In the Sports Illustrated Special Issue on this, a woman barber just off campus said that her Penn State administration clients talked about Sandusky. It was simply open knowledge.

Reason #3. The Second Mile charity for ‘at risk’ youth; a blatantly diabolical grooming stable.

The Second Mile has some liability for not booting Sandusky, or reporting him, when they had information. However, The Second Mile had long since outgrown Sandusky. It was a huge deal in that part of Pennsylvania and because of the sports connections, had guest speakers for fund-raisers, and a board of Honorary Trustees that was a Who's Who of sports.

Sandusky was the founder, but The Second Mile grew into a charity providing services to 100,000 kids a year. There's no way any significant number of them were molested or raped. The budget was something like $9 mllion.

That's why a judge had to be brought in from outside the area. If you were in politics, business, or supported charitable causes in the greater Penn State area, or were a Penn State alumnus still around in the area, you probably donated to The Second Mile.

Anal rape, yes. Oral rape, I'd have to check on Pennsylvania's definition. That's probably sexual assault (or deviant sexual behavior; see below). When it was just manual stimulation by Sandusky of a boy or making a boy touch Sandusky, that's not legally considered rape. But Pennsylvania has an atypical statute about 'deviant sexual behavior' that covers most of that stuff.

All of sure feels like rape, doesn't it?

Well, heck. Even after he was seen orally sodomizing a boy in the Penn State showers in 2000, and anally raping a boy in the Penn State showers in 2002, Penn State let Sandusky continue to hold sleepover sports camps for youth on Penn State's other campus through 2008.
