Jon Huntsman: The No-Drama Conservative (his record is to the right of everyone running)
The American Conservative ^ | August 24, 2011 | Michael Brendan Dougherty

Posted on 11/30/2011 11:19:15 AM PST by St. Louis Conservative

HANOVER, NH—Jon Huntsman walked out of the rear door of a Dartmouth auditorium. His head swiveled as he looked for the black SUV that will take him to his next stop. He had just given a speech emphasizing his claim that the future of America will not be decided on a battlefield in remotest Afghanistan but along the trade routes of the Pacific. The applause had barely died down in the hall as Huntsman exited into the quiet streets of Hanover. He took one second to sigh. He had just launched “Phase Two” of his campaign, and it was a success.

The reboot couldn’t come fast enough. Huntsman had made no dent in the polls since his launch in June. Instead, the avalanche of prestige media mash-notes to his campaign had the effect of raising expectations ridiculously high and smothering him with the labels “soft” and “moderate” in an era when Tea-caffeinated primary voters are looking for “hard” and “right.” The hastily constructed campaign—largely built while the candidate was still serving as Obama’s ambassador to China—was subject to infighting and leaked acrimony that would outlast July’s reorganization. Huntsman was sinking almost as fast as Tim Pawlenty, his name recognition barely above Buddy Roemer’s.

But this rickety launch obscured more than it revealed. Huntsman may be uncomfortable in the ideological sweathouse that is the conservative movement. He may be diplomatic when the right is dyspeptic. But his candidacy offers conservatives two very tantalizing possibilities: a break with the Bush legacy on foreign policy and the chance to move their policy prescriptions off the Tea Party’s placards and into the center of our political debate. Huntsman’s record shows that conservative politics can triumph not just through conflict but also by concord.

Whenever I see him talking on TV my gaydar goes off like the klaxon on the starship Enterprise. Or is that just me?

Is that the old star trek or the new star trek because if it was the new star trek they were all gay. ;-)

Huntsmann is the only GOP candidate to the left of Romney.
Fortunately, he is irrelevant

Bull Sh*t!!!!!!

If Huntsman is a conservative, why did he:
1. Support Obama’s candidacy;
2. Contribute to Obama’s campaign;
3. Take a dipomatic position in Obama’s staff’ and
4. Contibute to H. Reid’s campaign?

Anyone can say they are a conservative, visit all of the conservative web sites, and read all the conservative wirters, but that does not make them a conservative. Jon Huntsman is not a conservative. He is fooling only a very few in the Republican party and no conservatives.

The minute MSNBC, CBS, NBC, et al came out and started say that Huntsman is the only Republican that Obama and the Democrats fear, and no one had every really heard about him, I knew he was a shill. After looking at the facts about this, it is obvious as to who he really is.

The way I remember it the media was the ones pushing Huntsman to get into the race.

He's the preferred candidate of the entire Morning Joe cast.

He’s the class act on the stage. If Bush was a Republican, Huntsman is a Conservative. He has not bought into illusion that constant war is the way to prosperity. Those leading the GOP pack are arguing who will be the most war time President. Conserving America is what it should be about in the coming years. China is our existential problem.

I've heard him dump on fellow republicans while speaking glowingly of Obama.

No thanks.

Is just me, or does he look a lot like Grey Davis, the former re-called leftist governor of California?

This article is just one more media attack on Republicans and conservatives.

Huntsman is an opportunistic liberal supported by the MSM. He has no achievements and no principles. He says whatever he thinks will curry favor with the leftists in the MSM.

His tenure as Ambassador to China was a time when the Chinese government showed utter contempt for America. They violated all trade rules, created tension in Asia, engaged in cybor attacks on the United States, sponsored North Korean terrorism and tried to replace the dollar as the currency of record for international transactions.

Huntsman was a total failure as Ambassador to China.

Most of the article brags about how Huntsman's father was a very successful businessman. That part is true but Huntsman is just a spoiled rich kid who dropped out of high school to play in a band (supported by daddy's money). His so called “experience” was either nepotism jobs for his daddy or government positions financed with daddy's money and connections.

He has far more supporters among leftists, media types and Democrat operatives than ordinary Americans.

The simple fact is no honest conservative could ever support him. His supporters are all leftists and phonies.
