AUSTIN Rick Perrys presidential campaign plans to bring more than 600 influential Texans to Iowa this month as part of a major blitz for a strong finish in the first state to vote.
The massive Perry posse will include Republican elected officials such as Attorney General Greg Abbott and Comptroller Susan Combs, party stalwarts, consultants, lobbyists, financers and friends that will reach out to Republicans in the Hawkeye State and ask them to take a fresh look at the Texas governor.
Campaign director Joe Allbaugh confirmed the move Wednesday, saying the campaign will stagger the visits but has booked 200 Iowa hotel rooms. We know for sure when 600 are coming and when theyre going, he said.
Another widespread email to the Texas Federation of Republican Women might produce more volunteers, but the campaign is hoping about 700 will spend part of December and their New Years in Iowa, Allbaugh said.
In addition, to push for even more volunteer foot soldiers, the campaign appealed to thousands of followers on Twitter Wednesday, saying: Come to Iowa in January as part of @GovernorPerry's Strike Force! Will you join us? and listing an email response address.....

I still think GWB was a miserable failure in office, but I guess he had two good Supreme Court picks.
Just think of these Texas folks as “community organizers”. That will clear things up in that ACORN brain of yours! LOL!
It's going to start snowing here in Iowa tomorrow.
A few good blizzards and some sub-zero weather and they'll go back south.
Yes, and the noobie still hasn’t responded. Dusting my hands off!
The thundering herd! LOL!
She’s really hard to look at. the plastic surgery has worn off.
didn’t I read he was a fighter pilot?
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

So Org, where did you serve and what did you do? Something elite I suppose?
Aren't you a good little Soviet?
For example, How John Kerry Won Iowa:
The Kerry Surge
How did a candidate who just two weeks ago was considered dead in Iowa pull off such a miraculous victory? Kerrys turnaround began largely unnoticed back in mid-November. With advice from outsiders like former President Bill Clinton, Kerry had sharpened his populist message on the stump, delivering shorter, less rambling speeches with snappier bight lines that connected with audiences. With his poll numbers in New Hampshire free-falling, Kerry decided to bet the house on Iowa to resuscitate his campaign. He blanketed the state with about $2 million worth of television ads. Campaign workers were rushed into the state during December, along with a crack field team headed by Michael Whouley, who ran Al Gores ground game. Kerry, who had already raised some $20 million, pumped another $6.5 million from his own fortune into the campaign, much of it going to Iowa, where he eventually assembled close to 120 paid operatives.
Some of the ‘oldies’ never do either, lol.
They “slam and scram”!
The article specifies these are not individuals just going to knock on doors and give out pamphlets. These are well respected politicians, directors, leaders, etc in various areas of life and community and politics from mostly Texas and some outside who have some Texas connections with Governor Perry.
It’s clear when reading the article that while they are willing and perfectly able to shake hands and chat with Iowans face to face, these folk will be utilized in areas where they have expertise.
An example may be an agricultural commissioner speaking at a meeting of Iowan agricultural leaders and farmers or a pro-life organization director speaking with a group of pro-life advocates in Iowa. This is very smart campaigning as far as Perry goes, but I’m still stuck on the fact that we have so many WONDERFUL people who are willing to take of their time, energy, and money to go and personally speak for what Governor Perry has done!
Beautiful picture. To quote Davy, “You may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas.”
I guess he was a pilot of sort.
Maybe I misread your comment. Sorry if that’s what I did.
He was military. He served our country.
He’s been good for Texas and I’m voting for him.
I’d rather keep him here but if Abbott takes over it’ll still be all good.
Good catch. Full-court press by Perry. We’ll see soon the results.
