AUSTIN Rick Perrys presidential campaign plans to bring more than 600 influential Texans to Iowa this month as part of a major blitz for a strong finish in the first state to vote.
The massive Perry posse will include Republican elected officials such as Attorney General Greg Abbott and Comptroller Susan Combs, party stalwarts, consultants, lobbyists, financers and friends that will reach out to Republicans in the Hawkeye State and ask them to take a fresh look at the Texas governor.
Campaign director Joe Allbaugh confirmed the move Wednesday, saying the campaign will stagger the visits but has booked 200 Iowa hotel rooms. We know for sure when 600 are coming and when theyre going, he said.
Another widespread email to the Texas Federation of Republican Women might produce more volunteers, but the campaign is hoping about 700 will spend part of December and their New Years in Iowa, Allbaugh said.
In addition, to push for even more volunteer foot soldiers, the campaign appealed to thousands of followers on Twitter Wednesday, saying: Come to Iowa in January as part of @GovernorPerry's Strike Force! Will you join us? and listing an email response address.....

My grades sucked until I found a calling.
Then I graduated in the top 5%
Iowans won’t know what hit them. I’m seeing men on horseback, roping those folks and towing them to the polls with the promise of being released from the Texans’ clutches if they pull the lever for Perry. Then perhaps a hoedown?
No offense, Herman.
If the LSM WAS going to print a headline, yours would be it, minus the Obama part.
BTW, if you read the article (fat chance) you’d know there will be 200 at a time, not 600 all at once. They will be meeting with their Iowan counterparts, not trying to Occupy Corn Fields until the farmers capitulate.
Is that the same courtesy you gave Obama? I didn’t. I called them thugs just like I am calling Perry’s group thugs. Why doesn’t he have people in Iowa that will work for him? That is the question right there. We always complain about how people bus people in on election day to get people to vote and now a supposed Republican is doing EXACTLY what we hate or at least complain about.
Yes, and a Shiner Bock for their trouble!
My husband & I have been saying that exact thing.
It doesn’t matter how you break them down. It is 600 total. I don’t care if it is 200 at a time. You are just giving him a pass as you always do.
Some people see black helicopters everywhere...
Use your best judgement. You may get lucky.
This is not a thug thing.
It is an influence thing.
They are going to ingratiate themselves to the voters in Iowa, and to relate story’s of common concerns, and illustrate how we dealt with those problems in Tx.
It’s called campaigning.
LoL
Glad I saw this altura, I was about to post a similar comment. I went to University of Texas but still can brag on Texas Aggies. As you said, it was an all men’s school when he went, he was in the Corps of Cadets and one of 5 ‘Yell Leaders’. Obviously he was popular and well liked.
I recall going to Aggie games with a Cadet and we had to stand the whole game, lol. You got kissed if they made a touchdown.
Share!
Well it is the first time in history that a Republican is resorting to such tactics. I question this big time and the other 98 percent who don’t support him do as well.
You don’t know what you’re taking about. Flying a C-130 ain’t a walk in the park. Do you have any idea how much skill it takes to fly one and how much responsibility is on the shoulders of a C-130 pilot? Obviously not.
Texas posse: You SURE you SWEAR to vote for Rick?
Innocent hogtied Iowans: Yes! We swear!
Texas: 'Cuz we can come right on back here ifn you DON'T.
Voters: Take our corn as hostage! We promise!
He does have people in Iowa who will work for him. These are additional volunteers who believe in his candidacy and want to campaign in Iowa. Why does it worry you so, are you afraid he will pick up some votes?
It will be shared as time goes forward.
No one has done an in depth expose on his business acumen, and I guarantee that there is a dossier on the matter waiting.
And it is just plain crazy.
The Perry haters harp on the instate tuition thing, and ignore that Perry is tough on illegal immigration.
Then the same folks love them a guy who flat out calls for amnesty.
I haven’t been a Perry fan, but compared to Mitt and Romney, Perry is the man.
