Make an eletric car that goes 400 miles on a charge and can be recharged in 15 minutes and you will sell them.
Until you can do that the thing will not sell.

On Monday, GM began offering loaner vehicles to those very same Volt owners while the NHTSA investigation continues. And what happens when the loaner "self-combusts"....
a loaner on a loaner....?

Any competent electrical engineer can give N reasons why electric cars are not presently viable (where N is a large number). Same for windmills and solar power.
Let us remember that the vast, vast majority of congresscritters could not pass even the most elemental EE introductory course.
And, of course, we have the Cretin-in-Chief (who is afraid to let us see his grades even in the marshmallow level courses (political “science”, sociology, and the rest of the drivel this looser took in college). Spelling “science” without a teleprompter would be difficult for this ...complete idiot.
So we gets what we elected, and we gets their products, and we pay for their stupidity.

“There are not enough idiots who will buy it.” - 30 to 40% of our fellow citizens will vote for anyone with a (D) after their name on a ballot. If I was a Chevy dealer, I’d send my sales people to the polls on election day and have them ask people if they vote Democrat. If they say “yes”, hand them a sales contract that reads “Volt (D)”.

GM plans to sell 45,000 Volts next year. Assuming they can find enough idiots to buy them, lets do the math on the $7,500 subsidy....$337 million...as in a third of a Billion, passed through to GM.

I've been following the progress of the Aptera car and if they ever get to the point where they're actually being sold, I'd buy one. The website is evolving and incomplete due to upgrades, but I found a gallery page:
