Gingrich, Santorum, and Bachmann fail to field full slate of delegates in NH
American Thinker ^ | December 2, 2011 | Rick Mor

.... As recently as two weeks ago, the Gingrich campaign was apparently unable to name 40 New Hampshire supporters of his presidential campaign.

Candidates needed to file their slates of 20 delegates to the National Convention, along with 20 alternates, with the Secretary of State by November 18. The Gingrich campaign filed a partial slate of 14 delegates and 13 alternates, leaving 13 slots vacant. Among the 27 names Gingrich listed are three members of his staff.

Rick Santorum (12 delegates and 12 alternates) and Michele Bachmann (18 delegates) also filed partial slates. Gary Johnson (10 delegates and one alternate) and Buddy Roemer (eight delegates) also had incomplete filings.

In contrast, Herman Cain, Jon Huntsman, Ron Paul, Rick Perry, and Mitt Romney all filed full slates of 40 people.

No doubt Gingrich would be able to identify 40 committed supporters this week, in the wake of his endorsement by the New Hampshire Union Leader and riding a wave of interest in his candidacy. But the campaign's failure to do so just nine days prior to the paper's endorsement is an indicator of the extent to which the campaign is starting from scratch - and could signal a lack of basic organization. Filing a slate of delegates isn't complicated, but it does require advance planning, as each delegate or alternate needs to sign his or her own form. It's not the sort of thing that can be left to the last minute.

This is the sort of thing that shouldn't slip through the cracks. And it reinforces one of the major criticisms that has dogged Gingrich since he came to Congress in 1979; details don't concern him. He is very good at conceptualizing but takes no interest in how anything gets done.

. He talks confidently

Absolutely true. He fools the rubes into thinking he's smart just by being over-the-top arrogant and condescending. The problem is he uses the same tone when he's clearly dead wrong. I can't stand the guy.

What I believe - in my heart - by faith and evidence that satisfies me - is he is a different person than he was those years ago. He has sought God's forgiveness

LOL! Sucker.

So technically, since we are including polls nowadays long before the actual voter or caucus goer speaks as opposed to the old days of true "delegate totals" by the three networks and papers, we can also throw into the mix "delegate slates" registered, in this case, in the pivotal state of NH.

And in that sense, Herman Cain, who is still in the race, is therefore ahead of both Gingrich, Santorum and Bachmann in the state, as he filed a FULL SLATE OF DELEGATES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.

There are young people - I know a lot of them - many in the military - who I often recommend to join or check out this site - for comprehensive political information. They are just beginning to get interested in politics - and not one of them has every stayed - they are full of energy and vigor and believe in true conservatism - but this board is becoming a hangout for a lot of old angry people... it’s just sad, sad like you.

Really? I've been a squad Mom since 2003 and I find that most miliary LOVE Rick Perry and they wouldn't find CW "sad" or "mean" at all. I think perhaps hou have so much hatred in your heart that ytou read things as being "mean".

don’t give up on Cain... he has to do what is right for him... and I hope he will stay in. we can’t let the media do this...

I don't like the MSM but Cain is not a victim of the media. He is in the mess he's in because of his own poor judgment.

We complain that the media doesn't report the information we need on Obama,so can you HONESTLY complain that they report what seems to be the TRUTH on Cain or any other GOP candidates?

Cain got caught with his pants down. He doesn't seem to have good judgment in the women he gets mixed up with...losers with money problems.

How can Cain blame the media with "Character assasination" when he knew these women were in his past. How stupid was he that he didn't think they would come out?

If Cain stays in the race, I wouldn't be surprised if more don't step forward.

I wish he would just go away.

If the shoe fits...

Better now than later. There seems to be more fact than fiction in what is being reported.

Wow.

You sound angrier and more bitter in your attack on her than she ever sounded.

There’s much to critique with some of those who go from thread to thread in a great numbers to attack this lady any time she dares post anything pro Perry or a criticism of Cain or Newt.

She has the right to post articles here and comment upon them. Those with the worst possible responses might be the ones you should focus on, rather than her going about the business of what is supposed to be going on here, and going about it under tremendous pressure and fire with more aplomb and poise and patience than most human beings could muster.

She doesn’t think Newt is what America needs and makes no pretense otherwise. But I have seen nothing to warrant the type of attack you levelled nor the specifics you accused her of.

I see now that you have apologized for it, to a considerable extent, and for that I commend you.

Its beginning to look a lot like Newt. I urge everyone to keep your eye on the prize. Which is getting that Muzzie loving Commie out of the White House and out of our lives. Any of the announced GOP candidates would be 1000% better than BHO. Nobody on this thread really wants Mitt Romney so if Newt is beating him then good on Newt. Newt will annihilate Obama.

At this point some 33 days til the Iowa Caucus anybody polling at 3%-7% just isn’t going to win so its time to face the facts. Its Newt or Mitt.

His taking many millions from Fannie and Freddie is a bad thing.

That to me is a symptom, however, and not the disease itself.

Do you understand what the disease is, and that is, as Mark Levin so well points out, STATISM?

Fannie and Freddie had no constitutional or common sense reason for even existing, but because they were there and dangled money (which they didn’t even have as we learned and fell back on the taxpayers and borrowing), Newt took it.

This is the overhelming Federal Statism that the Tea Party has fought tooth and nail.

Perry has profoundly fought it.

A month can be, and often has been, a long time in politics, anything can and often does happen in that period.

Whether it does this time or doesn’t, you won’t find me covering up for Newt. I’ve already been virtually ordered to shut up and cover up for Cain, and was certainly told to shut up over Palin, simply for supporting someone else when she wasn’t even running.

Didn’t work then, won’t work on me now.

I can speak this much for CW...won’t work on her, either.

“Fannie and Freddie had no constitutional or common sense reason for even existing, but because they were there and dangled money (which they didn’t even have as we learned and fell back on the taxpayers and borrowing), Newt took it.”

Newt Gingrich charged consulting fees totally in line with the norm as a private consultant for Fannie and Freddie and many other well known clients. As he explained on Hannity the other night his consultant contract which both he and the client have to sign explicitly states that he cannot do any type of lobbying for them. If there was any truth to these lobbying rumors the MSM would be shouting it from the rooftops in every news cycle.

Thanks for your post and sanity on this thread. I didn’t read ALL the comments but I was quickly repulsed at how negative, backstabbing and snarky other comments were to some GOP candidates and to some fellow FReepers.

The article this thread references is stupid and possibly written by a DU’er, or at least by a Gingrich-hater, to make him look bad, and create derision.

But Gingrich does not feel he can win ALL the delegates in NH (the state in Romney’s back yard where he sometimes visits to vacation in one of his mansions). Plus NH had its delegate count cut in half because it moved its primary earlier. So there is absolutely no need for Gingrich to have named MORE delegates there than he did.

Same thing for the other candidates who could honestly gauge the MAXIMUM number of delegates in NH that they might win.

The Dem’s can have the most glaring repulsive flaws that are ignored, but GOP’ers are nitpicked to death over stupid imaginary issues like this. Its just amazing.

I only addressed this to you because I have no interest in arguing with the surprising number of bitter folks here whose candidate is not in the lead. The rest of you on this thread: please do not reply to me.
