In my youth, I had a paper route delivering newspapers door to door. And, as a courtesy to my customer’s, I collected these same newspapers and sold them to the local recycle yard. You have to think outside the box.

Here is something newt said today on abc... and it should concern every one of you. He was asked about his not attacking other republican candidates and newt made his statement again and he then... EXACTLY AS mccain did... he said that he "WOULD BE THE NOMINEE"... and that this coming election WOULD NOT BE A REFERENDUM ON obama... it would NOT BE ABOUT obama... that he was not going to attack obama etc etc etc... same as mccain did. We know exactly how that worked out for mccain. newt is embracing the failed politics of the high road... just like Bush and his “NEW TONE” garbage.

I had to read post after post by those trying to rationalize mccain... they said the high road is the right path... that we are better than the dims... well that is a false premise... you cannot win a fight without landing blows and if you refuse to fight... you will get the crap beat out of yourself.

If newt is nominated... he will be destroyed in the media while he will refuse to fight obama down in the gutter where obama lives.

AS RICK FLAIR SAYS... AND RICK IS A WINNER AND ALWAYS HAS BEEN... “TO BE THE MAN... YOU GOTTA BEAT THE MAN”. You cannot beat a political opponent by refusing to point out his weaknesses and failures... and with obamao... those are huge and are both PERSONAL and POLITICAL. I cannot believe how blind some Conservatives are.

I was unable to find a full transcript of the video clip or a full version any where on the internet. In addition, there is an undisclosed edit at time mark 0:39. This is what I did find combined with my transcription:

You have a very poor neighborhood. You have kids who are required under law to go to school. They have no money, they have no habit of work. What if you paid them part-time in the afternoon to sit at the clerical office and greet people when they came in. What if you paid them to work as the assistant librarian. And I'd pay them as early as is reasonable and practical. [unidentified] delude on the janitor thing. These letters are written that say 'Janitorial work is really hard and really dangerous and it's this and that.' Fine. So what if they became assistant janitors and their job was to mop the floor and clean the bathroom. And you paid them. And all of a sudden in their neighborhood. And, I did this. [END CLIP]

Nowhere in the clip did he say that government should be the one to employ these kids. Can anyone take issue with what he really said? This is the most insightful explanation I have seen for the disintegration of the inner-city and the collapse of the minority family. Please ping me if anyone finds a longer video or full transcript, I would really like to see it.

Does anyone who’s spent any time with kids from poor nabes deny what Newt says here? Both my wife and i,her more then me, taught desperately poor kids in terrible nabes. These kids had no one in their lives who obtained cash through work. They had zero understanding of the relation of work to achievement, and this showed in their approach to school. I don’t think the govts,city, state, and federal could possibly have enough placements for a 14 or 15 year old to learn work’s value and the unions would scream child labor if they tried, but Newt’s absolutely right about the problem. And if you examine the snotty white OWS kids, I think you’ll find a preponderance who grew up with an absent,divorced father paying the bills and no correlation to dad’s getting up and going to work with the clothes, vacations, tuitions, and Christmas presents.

He’s correct. Most of the poor neighborhoods are black neighborhoods and unemployment among black youth is the highest it has ever been as long as those records have been kept. And when you have neighborhoods in which the main businesses are liquor stores and currency exchanges, the opportunities for kids to work are pretty much non-existent.
