FBI and IRS agents on Friday raided the Northeast home of D.C. Council member Harry Thomas Jr., a significant uptick in the pace of a criminal investigation into whether the council member used public funds for personal gain.
Authorities arrived about 8 a.m. and cordoned off a wide area around Mr. Thomass 17th Street home. Agents in windbreakers and vests with FBI and Treasury Department markings could be seen going into and out of the house for most of the day.
The most obvious things that were seized was a red motorcycle with yellow detailing and a Chevrolet Tahoe that were loaded on a tow truck from the driveway of Mr. Thomass house about 11:30 a.m.
Bill Miller, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office in the District, declined to comment on the raid not even to confirm that it was Mr. Thomass house that was being raided.
Todays law enforcement action is in conjunction with an ongoing investigation, he said. Because the investigation is continuing, there will be no comment at this time.

Mr. Thomas, Ward 5 Democrat, agreed to repay $300,000 to the District after the citys attorney general filed a $1 million lawsuit against him this year for funding lavish trips and a luxury vehicle with public funds earmarked for youth baseball.
Mr. Thomas said after the settlement was announced that he entered into it in the best interest of the city and denied purposeful misuse of public funds.

Don’t you know it’s racist to not cover things like this up ? /Sarc
What a corrupt city, I doubt it’ll ever end.
That is not corruption, it is “stimulus.” /s
That’s not far off the mark, these turkeys feel entitled to this.
“What a corrupt city, I doubt itll ever end.”
Pick a city anywhere in the county that’s run by some of “Holder’s People,” and by and large you will find the same thing. Detroit, Cleveland, Birmingham, Camden, it’s all the same sh!t. A few go to jail, but you can bet that they would get re-elected in a heartbeat if and when they could stand for election once again. Look for Kwame Kilpatrick to run again for mayor of Detroit in the future (that is once he gets out of jail).
You’re absolutely right and the majority of their voters don’t care, they keep reelecting them.
Exhibit A: Marion Berry. Exhibit B: Eleanor Holmes Norton. And they are demanding two seats in the U.S. Senate and one in the House.
I finally got that.
I feel stupid.
Old Willy Jeff got nailed good, I believe 13 years in a fed pen. The great thing about fed pens is he’ll do about 90% of the sentence, no bleeding heart parole boards. LOL!
You’re right, I thought he was already in the slammer. It’s been two years since he was sentenced and he’s still out on the street. Pathetic.
