COMMENTARY | Former New York congressman Guy Molinari has a few things to say about former Speaker of the House and current presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich -- none of them nice. He speaks from experience, having worked with the presidential candidate in the 80s, a few years prior to the Gingrich becoming Speaker of the House. And Molinari bluntly states that Gingrich is "evil" and a liar, according to CNN.
"Evil is a tough word, but frankly I can't think of a better word that describes what he is all about," said Molinari, who now works as an adviser to the Mitt Romney presidential campaign. "He is an evil person. That's the way he is. He'll lie; he'll do anything to get his way."
And there is definitely some truth to that. Take, for instance, Gingrich's complete twisting of the truth to brand the Obama administration as reckless with taxpayer dollars just so he can become the Republican nominee for president. Politifact published a piece on Dec. 1 that parsed a Gingrich claim that not only was President Obama the "best food stamp president in history" but that food stamps could now be used for anything, like trips to Hawaii. Even millionaires were getting food stamps, according to the former Speaker. Politifact labeled Gingrich's claims "Pants On Fire," their worst branding for lies and misleading statements.

Hadn’t considered that.
I think if that were the case, supporting Gingrich more publicly might be the preferred way to try to smooth things over.
So I tend to see it as more likely that there’s some lack of enthusiasm, for lack of a better word, for a Gingrich presidency.
But we’ll see.
Maybe Gingrich told Boehner, “No thanks.”
Boehner isn’t exactly a shining beacon of effective conservative politics these days.
I’m not looking for a saint or anyone that can walk on water at this point. If Molinary, working for Romney, was not smart enough to work with Gingrich, he should not admit it. I want someone who, 1. can beat Obama and 2. be conservative enough to get the job done.
That could be, too.
OTOH, Gingrich has never shown any consistently good political sense about knowing who is and is not “good” to be seen with/supported by.
See Pelosi, Sharpton, Hillary, etc. That didn’t worry Newt in the least.
So it’s hard to make the case that Newt would be concerned that Boehner’s support would hurt him.
If this is true and Bonehead was in one the mutiny, this is exactly what I personally want. If Gingrich becomes president, we will have him and Bonehead across from each other eye balling each other up and someone will have stay right to keep support. If either moves left, the other will crucify him in the court of public opinion.
I suspect, if Gingrich becomes POTUS, ol Bonehead will not run for speaker again.
Newt is bound to stick his foot in his mouth. Again. It’s just the way he is.
Maybe Ubama can invite him for a ride on AF-1 and make him sit in the back.

Newt had a 100% conservative rating last time he was in power. So stop lying. :)
Every one of the candidates has eggs they have laid - none of them are perfect. I have named every egg I have seen on all of them. Romney is 100% anti-conservative so we start there and move right to any candidate who can beat Obama with the ability to express a conservative constitutional ideology, policy and message. Unfortuantely, that would not be Cain.
I don’t think Newt will be too happy to have this terrible old feud re-surface. It was ugly. Now that Newt is riding a wave, something like this could be a disaster. I won’t mention the rumors but it’s worth the research if anyone needs their memory refreshed. Guy’s daughter, Susan Molinari, was bright and articulate as a congresswoman. Her husband, Bill Paxon, was up and coming. An attempted overthrow of Newt, a sudden departure from Congress by Paxon and thereafter by Susan, the suicide of Sandy Hume, all led to intrigue that should have made it to the big screen. Newt Gingrich was right in the middle of all of it. So was Dick Armey. The story was never ever told but Newt came out king of the hill. I wouldn’t mind knowing the whole mystery.
Quit trying to sell Newt as anything but a RINO. You know the truth.

Boehner was one of the leaders of an attempted coup against Newt back in the 90s that faded at the last minute. There was also this story where he was caught on some guy in FL’s CB radio and overheard on a cell phone call with Newt talking about his multiple ethics violations and scandals. And of course, Boehner also has tha tlittle part where he served as Newt’s bagman and literally handed out checks from tobacco lobbyists on the floor of the house in relation to certain bills. It is fun to see all the old footage of a younger Boehner with Newt, Armey, Delay and all those guys from the 90s.
I don’t know if Boehner is all that thrilled if all that stuff starts coming back out when everyone had forgotten about it. I doubt he’s all that happy about the prospect of a Gingrich nomination.
I think his tenacity is one of the things that got him elected as Speaker. McDermott used to be one of the Dems' most public faces...after his humiliation we hardly see him anymore.
That story is not a strike against the Speaker...it's a point in favor of him.
I know the rumors you’re talking about. That was a weird time...I was surprised when Paxon and Molinari left the scene so quickly.
From an advisor to Mitts campaign and yet this is called news? This is politics. Yet, FR, in it’s opposition to Mitt but allows this crap to go on unaddressed.
That’s probably as close to being right as anything else we’ve speculated.
With Boehner having felt the heat from the Tea Party in the last years, you’re right that probably the last thing he wants is a trip down Memory Lane with Newt right now.
