City police Friday shut down an attempt by some Occupy Hartford campers to set up a new encampment at a downtown skateboarding park known as Heaven.
The campers told officers that they were making the move because of drug use, violent behavior and a sexual assault that occurred Thursday at the Occupy Hartford site at the corner of Broad Street and Asylum Avenue.
Police went to the Broad Street site Friday evening and interviewed the assault victim, who told police that a man entered her tent after her husband left and kissed and groped her.
The woman, who has been camping at the site dubbed Turning Point Park for about two weeks, said Saturday that the man fled and had not come back. The victim's husband said Saturday that the man had been a frequent visitor to the encampment.

Where to park Daddy’s Volvo and stash the weed before the big event?
Who are these occupy protesters, and who on Earth ever suggested to run a movement without leadership? That is the biggest bucket of hogwash I ever heard for getting things done. In fact, what are people, braindead or something. Even having local chapters and local leaders and discipline within a group’s ranks actually makes some sense. But it just makes me totally unsurprised that this group has gotten as unruly and out of control as it is so quick, yeah, that’s smart thinking. All I can say is, the one thing I remember about Boy Scouts is the fact that you could get kicked out of that group for misrepresenting the organization with your conduct. I believe the military is similar, as well as numerous other organizations, leaders call out what they feel is unruly or rediculous within a group and keep some compass in it. Again, it’s interesting to see how much a movement degenerates with a lack of leadership.
Call down to the Concierge and ask him to send a bellman up to put a package in the hotel safe, of course. Then check on those theater tickets and where the surf-n-turf you ordered 15 minutes ago is.
At least the Occupy Hartford are in the ‘Fruit Loop’ area. They are fruity!
Must be getting a little chilly out there now. I predict an “Occupy daddy’s house for the winter” movement is coming soon.
New strategy:
NOt allow OWS to leave their self-made filth-laden cess pits.
Thunderdome them all in. Force them to live in their mess.
I see all 6 tents from my car on my way to WORK everyday. Pathetic!
Saw those same six tents also when I had to make a trip to Farmington on this past Monday.
It has been shown that this is a leftist movement attempting to prove that it is a 'spontaneous grass roots movement' like the Tea Party. However they have just shown themselves to be the barbarians that they. As a wise man once said; "It is easier for a civilized man to act like a barbarian than it is for a barbarian to act civilized."
LOL...good post....but the reality is..they don't give a shit about Daddys Volvo....He can buy another one!...and as to the weed..They can buy some more....as soon as Daddys check clears!!
And yet ... we hear about these idiots in Hartford at least once a week.
The Tea Party had thousands at the Capital and the local media barely mentioned it. These clowns have maybe a dozen people and they get ink all over local media.
t has been shown that this is a leftist movement attempting to prove that it is a ‘spontaneous grass roots movement’ like the Tea Party.
Even the Tea Party has leadership, not totalitarian, but there are general rules and local leaders in the mix. I guarantee you any local tea party if some people acted like an occupier, the group would have enough discipline to not condone the action, or possibly even discredit me as well, and call me up as a fake. There’s standards to one movement, and people who assume leadership in one.
As for OWS, why Obama even so much as talks to them is rediculous, that’s bold-faced lying. The main difference between him and Reagan is the fact that one of Reagan’s earlier actions was breaking up a strike, and breaking up similar protesters. Now Reagan can’t be brought back from the dead with us right now, but in the meantime, if some leader is permissive of this activity, I am gravely disappointed in him.
