OKLAHOMA CITY -- As expected, GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain has officially dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination as a growing cloud of doubt and suspicion hung over him in the wake of numerous allegations of sexual impropriety.

But despite his decision to drop out, he is still planning to appear at the previously scheduled "Victory 2012" rally on Monday evening at the Oklahoma City Marriott, according to Oklahoma Republican Party Chairman Matt Pinnell.

Pinnell said, in an email to Red Dirt Report: "While not a presidential candidate, Herman Cain is still committed to helping make Barack Obama a one-term president, and we are thrill that he will still be joining us as our guest speaker Monday night."

Maybe that was the point all along and it just caught fire more than anticipated until an inconvenient past came calling.

Cain paid his South Carolina primary fee so he is going to be on the ballot and I am voting for him.

Ain’t gonna let the bastards win.

You may have hit the nail on the head. He ran before and jumped ship.

And he lost a REP election IN HIS OWN STATE.

And the National Restaurant Association is just a big lobby group.

When Palin left, her followerers just leaped unto the Cain train....without really looking.

There was nowhere else to look if one was seeking the combination of bold ideas, conservative principles and an inspired positive message for the rebuilding of America. The bunch that's left gives me no hope for the future.

On the issue of the minimum wage, I fully support their lobbying efforts. Along with Big Labor's thugocracy (which needs to be attacked via RICO), the minimum wage continues to put the brakes on free market capitalism.

Sadly I have to admit, that after Palin left and then Perry blew up, Cain was easy to like, a lot.

My issues with Herman begain with the snarky and Keystone Cops way he and his team responded to the NRA harrassment reports that came up and then he pulls out that John Edwards-ish lawyer trying to scare off anyone regardless who may or may not been truthful.

His groupie supporters can say what they want, but Cain was his own worse enemy.

Why are all you Newtie supporters worried about Cain?

Newt's been on book tours with the former Mistress and currently Wife #3 were here in Naples, FL last week.

It will be interesting to see how many Midwesterners show up for Cain. I would bet he has a very large crowd of folks supporting him.

If you bash Cain, you are going to alienate us more towards Newt than you already have in the past 30 days.

Time for you all to reassess your strategy on civility.

Minimum wage in restaurants (with tipping) is different. They do not pay their employees minimum wage. If their tips do not fulfill the minimum rate then the restaurant owner has to make up the difference.

No matter...It's still a big lobby group...favors owners?? or workers??

You are every bit as intelligent, thoughtful as 2008 Obama voters!

And Newt supporters are every bit as convinced as Obama supporters that Newt is the new Messiah.

Yes, Newt and the Mrs. Mistress were here in Naples, Fl last week hawking two books at one sitting. Went just out of trying to be opened minded. In SWF we are into casual but nice dressing. Newt and Wife #3 dressed in typical GOPEstablishment garb. Expensive suit and tie, monogrammed white shirt, red power tie. The wife in read suit, pearls and heavy diamond rings. Both were very business like in peddling their books and not too warm to the crowds.

We sure got a first hand look see and it will be an interesting Primary come the end of January -

Cain was struck down for sins of hubris and lust.

I’m surprised the “real christians” here haven’t recognized this yet.

Cain quit the race and by that time will be supporting another candidate. In fact, he said today he will be endorsing another candidate very shortly.

Ain’t gonna let the bastards win.

Errr, so your going to vote for Cain even though he is no longer running for president? And you think that is somehow preventing the "bastards" from winning? What precisely will this act of defiance on your part accomplish?

I’m not a Newt supporter amd I don’t understand that you would choose to support a candidate out of spite.

Every Republican in SC should do the same, to show we reject the chosen candidates of the establishment.
