Newt really is the anti-Romney
Right Speak ^ | Saturday, December 3, 2011 | Martha

Comparing and contrasting Newt and Mitt is a real eye-opener. The two men have taken very different paths in their personal and professional lives, and have wildly different personalities. Newt is a dreamer, Mitt a doer. Newt is reckless, Mitt is careful. Newt is famously undisciplined, Mitt is the epitome of self-discipline. Romney is a leader, Newt simply is not–according to those who worked most closely with him. Both men are intelligent, yet have chosen different ways to use their intelligence.

In education, Romney pursued business and law, while Newt chose modern European History. Romney earned his education quickly and entered the private sector, while Newt preferred academia.

Romney went on to a successful career in business, becoming wealthy helping businesses and creating jobs, while Newt made a career in government, becoming wealthy by exploiting his position of power and selling influence. Romney's skills were in high demand in the private sector, while Newt was removed from leadership in the House due to the chaos he created.

In matters of faith, Romney is a life-long member of his church and has a record of many years of service to it. Newt went from Lutheran to Baptist, to Catholic, with some speculation of political motive in making the conversions. I am not aware of service Newt may have given to his church. In their personal lives, they could not be more different. Mitt married his high school sweetheart after 4 years of courtship, and remains happily married. Newt also married his high school sweetheart - his geometry teacher whom he began dating at age 16. He has admitted that there is some truth in the notion that he hates women. He has a turbulent marital history due to selfishness and uncontrolled sexual appetites. While Romney helped Ann through both MS and cancer, Newt divorced Jackie, who had cancer–saying she was ‘not pretty enough or young enough to be a president’s wife–and besides she has cancer’. Newt divorced Marrianne, who was also diagnosed with MS. At the time, he asked Marrianne if she would please tolerate the six year affair with Callista, and remain married to him. She refused. He married Callista in 2000.

In matters of character, the contrast is keen. Romney has no hint of scandal–personal or professional. Newt has rumors of sexual scandals–including the infamous oral sex in a car with his neighbor's wife, while his little daughter was near. Newt also has a history of ethics violations, shady book deals, sham fundraising practices, and inconsistencies about whether he was hired as an ‘historian’ or as a lobbyist.

In the presidential campaign, they have also chosen very different paths. Romney is serious, organized, hardworking and prepared, while Newt has been flying by the seat of his pants. He now finds himself in the running, but unprepared, due to a severe lack of preparation and organization. While Romney has been mostly humble about his long term frontrunner status, Newt proclaimed himself the nominee after less than two weeks at the top of the polls.

There are many other differences--too many to list here. But we easily know enough to determine who is more worthy of support. We should not divorce the way a man lives in his personal life, from his actions in public life. Character is revealed in both professional and personal decisions. Romney has a solid record of being true to his word, family, and stewardships. Newt does not. While both men have significant accomplishments, only one has the background, character, leadership and temperament we need. That person is Mitt Romney.

Romney reminds me of the guy in a bar brawl, egging the other participants on, but not actively throwing or taking punches. Then when there is only one other man, battered and bloody, left standing, he clobbers him with a bar stool.

While I see Newt as the anti Romney like I see a heart attack being the cure for cancer he is at least a known quantity.

We all know why you back Romney. Just sad you choose a religious peer over what is best for our country.

Be careful selling Mitt here, it shortens ones stay on this conservative site...

In matters of faith, Romney is a life-long member of his church and has a record of many years of service to it.
———————————————————————>

Newt is a family values Candidate.

He was a Baptist by choice after studying the religion in the 90’s. He even engaged a think tank three years ago to figure out how he could sway the Baptist Women Voters over to his style of family values!

He abandoned wife #1 for mistress and soon to be wife #2. He abandoned wife #2, joined the Catholic Church since Mistress #2 (and Congressional Staffer) wanted to be married in the Church.

Using his power and influence he was able to have his marriages to Wife #1 and 3 annul by the Catholic Church. Eros, he was never married to his first two wives and never the legitimate father of his two daughters.

Now he is squared away with the God of the Catholic Church. A clean slate at last with God. Family Values not in tact....just the guy we want as POTUS....sexist, self-serving, religious Bigot in the White House, not to mention a Narcissitic personal to boot!

Mayo Clinic Description of the Narcissist:

Narcissistic personality disorder is a mental disorder in which people have an inflated sense of their own importance and a deep need for admiration. Those with narcissistic personality disorder believe that they're superior to others and have little regard for other people's feelings. But behind this mask of ultra-confidence lies a fragile self-esteem, vulnerable to the slightest criticism

Yeah after all Willie Mitty has only killed one person so far due to his lousy driving...

Cut him some slack...

Looks like we need to cut you some slack too.

I'll assume that you have been misinformed and are not misrepresenting the situation intentionally. Romney was the driver of a car that was struck head-on by someone who was on the wrong side of the road. A passenger in the car Romney was driving was killed in this accident.

While we may all disagree with his politics, there is no need to claim he killed someone just to prove a point. That claim is just not true according to everybody involved in the accident.

"Gingrich may have flip-flopped on global warming and the borders, etc, but so did Romney. Worse, Romney was an abortion/gay rights advocate and was actually responsible for installing homosexual marriage, tax payer funded abortion and big government mandated socialized healthcare on his watch. Romney was architect and advocate of liberal big government programs while Gingrich was architect and advocate of the small government Reagan Revolution!

Romney crossed the aisle and built a consensus with Ted Kennedy and the liberal Democrats and installed wall to wall liberal programs, liberal judges and liberal appointees. Gingrich aligned himself with Ronald Reagan to build the Reagan Coalition and engineer the Reagan Revolution and the long lasting Reagan economy.

Needs to be printed and put on refrigerators

Let me see Mitt is polling what 23-25%? Mitt has his act together? Gingrich is polling in the mid to low 40%’s. I don’t know but Mitt better quit while he is ahead. The mistake he made was not appealing to the conservative base of the party which makes up about 55% of the party he is toast!!!

Nope. And I won't be brow-beat or shamed into voting for someone that doesn't represent me.

You go-along to get-along GOP types need to figure out that some of us are off the reservation, and if you want to win, you need to nominate a CONSERVATIVE.

So, KMA with your 'just an other Obama voter' bullcrap.

And being a jerk about it doesn't secure the party any votes. At all. Flies/vinegar...

Newt Gingrich was a Draft Dodger! During the Vietnam War it is a fact that Newt, the proverbial professional politician who walked out on his own family with two young children at a time when his wife had cancer. Those kids were the basis of this super-patriot’s draft deferment during the Vietnam War.

And, BTW, yes Mitt did avoid the draft by escaping to France to do his Missionary work for two years. He was in a car crash with several other missionaries. He was the only one to survive. They were in the South of France and killed by a drunk driver in a head-on collision.

Check out your facts. They both were draft dodgers and they both are RINOS!

I love these folks that complain about our candidates... I swear it's like watching “Morning Joe” where everyone bitches about the republicans.

I don't think the democrats trolling on this website could do more harm than these “conservative” people.

” Newt has had heroic changes of mind...”

Anf legendary legislative accomplishments; taking ower from the Dems after 40 lost years, reforming welfare and balancing budgets.

Not that those things would be useful. Lets focus on his (dismissed) ethics charges instead. God forbid we should kick the hell out of the Dems.
