I've Come To Praise Huckabee (VANITY)
Fox News ^

And his producers and others for coming up with the Republican Presidential Forum; it was a great idea to have State Attorneys General ask questions (rather than obnoxious, agenda-driven, self-appointed urinalistas)...It was an excellent forum for state representatives to try to resurrect state rights under our Constitution. The answers from Candidates (to various degrees, obviously) should have provided to many an education on the limited powers of the federal government and the rights of the States.

Anyway, it was a good forum; there should be a similar one at the Presidential level and perhaps instead of AGs; it could be 3 Republican Govs and 3 Democrat Govs. To viewers, it'd be a stark contrast and lesson on what the role of our federal and state government should be.

Huckabee looked and sounded much more presidential than any of the candidates.

Still, Virginia AG was the most credible sounding conservative. Too bad he is not running. OK AG sounded like made from VP timber. FL AG sounded smart too, but if you are nice looking lady, blonde, and your name is Pam Bombi, it is difficult to take you seriously. Well, AG Candy Cute would have been worse..

I would vote for any of those AGs this time if they were running. They clearly understood the importance of states rights and opposition to amnesty.

I thought the format and presentation were a great idea. kudos to FOX.

BTW...Cuccinelli announced over the weekend that he's running for Governor. VA would be well served if he's successful.

I thought it was absolutely the best presentation of the candidates I have ever seen, vastly superior to the idiotic “debate” format we have been tortured with.

I thought all the candidates came across really well, although I was surprised that when asked whether there were any constitutional amendments he disapproved of, Ron Paul couldn’t think of any besides prohibition. I was amazed that he didn’t jump all over the 16th amendment.

Perry did really well, and I thought Gingrich looked and sounded very presidential although I didn’t buy his idea of citizen “juries” to decide on deportations of long-time illegal aliens.

All in all, a great format and a great presentation.

Cuccinelli is obvious presidential candidate one day. Former Governor (maybe also Senator by 2020 primaries).

Well, by that date the country may be very different if amnesty ideas are passed. No conservatives needed then, I’m afraid.

The most important elections in 2012 will be to get enough conservatives in Congress who will stop Obama's or Gingrich's programs.

Nope - lousy presentation.

You won’t have a true debate until you ask the same questions to all the candidates, restricted to issue questions only. That’s the only fair way to enable compartive analyses.

We don’t need the personal attacks and gossip - we can get that at the supermarket checkout line.

Agreed. I’m not a big Huckabee fan, but his forum was a good idea well done. The questions were better than those at the DeMint event, and it wasn’t a silly lovefest like the Newt-Cain coffee klatch.
