Recent Charges of Sexual Abuse of Children in Hollywood Just Tip of Iceberg, Experts Say
FoxNews.com ^ | December 05, 2011 | Meaghan Murphy

If a spate of recent allegations proves true, Hollywood may have a hideous epidemic on its hands. The past two weeks have brought three separate reports of alleged child sexual abuse in the entertainment industry.

Martin Weiss, a 47-year-old Hollywood manager who represented child actors, was charged in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 with sexually abusing a former client. His accuser, who was under 12 years old during the time of the alleged abuse, reported to authorities that Weiss told him "what they were doing was common practice in the entertainment industry." Weiss has pleaded not guilty.

On Nov. 21, Fernando Rivas, 59, an award-winning composer for “Sesame Street,” was arraigned on charges of coercing a child “to engage in sexually explicit conduct” in South Carolina. The Juilliard-trained composer was also charged with production and distribution of child pornography.

Registered sex offender Jason James Murphy, 35, worked as a casting agent in Hollywood for years before his past kidnapping and sexual abuse of a boy was revealed by the Los Angeles Times on Nov. 17. Murphy’s credits include placing young actors in kid-friendly fare like "Bad News Bears," "The School of Rock," "Cheaper by the Dozen 2” and the forthcoming "Three Stooges.”

I almost forgot:

Post #14 "Shirley Temple experienced it. It’s been going on forever."

Dontcha feel all warm and fuzzy now about the Shirley Temple movies. If Shirley Temple "experienced it," well, it was worth it wasn't it? Hell, buy dozens of the TV offer and send them to all your friends. Tell them how much you enjoy the movies, even if she was abused. It's only entertainment anyway, it doesn't matter if she was abused.

Thanks. I’m glad you noticed it to.

I guess what struck me was the idea that this guy should quite naturally feel depressed because his works had supposedly ceased to exist, and everyone should identify with that mindset.

Never-mind the lowly average working stiff that does an admirable job day in and day out for forty-five years, who has no legacy whatsoever. Never-mind the housewife who has only raised children, and has no artistic relics laying around that can be adored by the fawning media sycophants.

This movie was advertised as a science fiction tail about a animatron, but the animatron’s single redeeming feature, was writing out the name of the man who thought he should have been recognized far more than he was.

The take-away was that we should all realize how much Hollywood has done for us. After all, the entertainment industry has been so munificent to us knaves.

If the industry had even an ounce of class and truly understood the message of this film, it would have killed the project before the first frame had been shot, and those driving the project would have been dismissed for all time, as unfit to present views to a public audience.

The dictionary defines an impression as: "a strong effect produced on the intellect, feelings, conscience, etc."

Labeling an impression as "idiotic" is idiotic.

When I first saw the trailer I also thought there was a science fiction aspect to it. I think it would be a huge stretch to label this film as being science fiction. I did notice that French society was pretty rough on its orphans though.

A normal person looking at a Shirley Temple film sees a little girl. A pedophile sees something else. That’s reality.

Everytime you see a kid on TV or in the movies, they are probably being sexually abused. IMO.

Why do you think so many of them turn into trainwrecks like Lindsay Lohan etc.

“You wanna be famous?” the pervert asks and later “You wanna stay famous?”

"Are you kidding? You must be a man"

I am. And you can search through my 36,000 plus posts and will never see the phrase "Are you kidding" You must be a woman."

It's a pretty stupid thing to say and provides nothing of value to the conversation.

Isn’t it amazing who the media elites can slander without any tinge of guilt. Bet this goes over well in France.

There was a 1930’s film called “Child Bride” and there are several minutes of naked 12 year old girl in it. How much did they pay those depression era parents? “Sexploitation”

She did go on to be in at least one film with Shirley Temple... same child abuse ring probably.

There are tons more recent examples I bet.

What is in “Hugo” that is getting it brought into this thread?

"Everytime you see a kid on TV or in the movies, they are probably being sexually abused. IMO."

And this is in a period of time when there are supposed watchdogs to monitor the treatment of the children on TV, in the movies, and in bands. Can you imagine the amount of abuse that went on in the days of Shirley Temple when there was far less "monitoring" than we have today?

You are absolutely correct. Makes you wonder how many of the abusers told them to pretend that they were acting out a scene from a movie?

“Hugo” probably doesn’t belong in the thread per se regarding child abuse. It is a film that has film makers patting themselves on the back for how wonderful they are. There is though another theme about the indifference and cruelty of French society towards its orphans.

desensitizing and brainwashing works on many kids. Why do you think so many swingers bring their kids to nudist resorts? Same reason.

Being that it was the depression, the girl’s parents might have been paid about 25 dollars. If that much.

I introduced the film while heralding the thought that the entertainment elites should be forgiven their sexual crimes, since they’re so gifted. Obviously, in sarcasm, but not that far off when you consider reality. The ‘Gifted’ part (entertainment industry narcissim to the max) was a central theme of Hugo.

Consider Roman Polanski, and I think you’ll begin to see the sense of my touching on this.

Here we have three entertainment players. I can only imagine the defenses of these folks before this is over.

Just an opinion, but swingers who bring their kids to nude resorts should have their children removed from the home.

I totally agree

I remember reading about “Camp Hormone” a nudist resort for kids, no parents allowed. The author said one thing they would do is rub chocolate all over each other, so how do they get it off? 11 year olds to 18 year olds. Wow. Insane parents.

LOL. And no doubt "Hugo" will be nominated for any number of awards. Barf.
