An off-duty police officer is among the injured and one person is dead after a shooting at Union Station in Dallas.
Charles Bassett is at the live crime scene at the corner of Houston & Wood with these details so far:
Dallas police are investigating the shooting which occurred between 3:30 and 4:00 pm at Union station. The shooting happened on board an Amtrak train stopped at the station.
DART officials are on the scene as well, along with a lot of stranded passengers still trying to get to their destinations. Trains are once again running at the station.
DART officials have not yet released information on victims, the fatality, or what may have led to the shooting. One witness says it started during an argument over seating.
"There was a crowd of people at the front of the car and there was a black dude sitting in his seat and these white dudes were like just b.s.-ing with him like, 'Hey, can we sit by you. The car's starting to fill up,' and this, that and the other. . .

UPDATE: Police now say a shooting aboard an Amtrak train at the Dallas Union Station involved plainclothes narcotics officers and a suspect.
Deputy Chief Randy Blankenbaker said the suspect was killed and a plainclothes narcotics officer and a bystander wounded in the gunfight aboard the Texas Eagle awaiting departure for Chicago.
Only a Narcotics cop could be stupid enough to start a gunfight in a train car.
Is there evidence that the cop started the shooting?
There is no way a Texas Eagle headed to Chicago was full.
This crap is going to continue until TSA is directed to take over trains and busses. /s
I doubt seriously the perp just picked a plainclothes narc at random and opened fire on him. Nope, I’m pretty sure it was Mr. PoPo who decided to exercise his authority and start sh** with a suspect on a train.
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Ban trains and only outlaws will ride (Amtrak) trains!
Has anyone seen Willie Green lately?
You know, you can take your guns with you on the train now.
(some resrtictions may apply)
Word on the street goes that he married classygreeneyedblonde!

... Bwuh ha ha ha ha!!!
Kevin James said he was talking to his girlfriend on his cell phone as he boarded the top level of a car near the back of the train en route to Chicago. He saw a few men in plainclothes approach the man sitting in the seat in front of him as if they were looking specifically for him, he said. It appeared the men asked the passenger for some identification and if they could search him, James said.
He took the gun out and was just firing randomly, James said. There was five or six gunshots.
James said when the shooting started, I hit the ground.
It took what seemed like 30 seconds for the officers to secure the gunmans weapon and it wasnt until after the shooting that James saw badges and realized the men were officers, he said.
Dang, that’s willie green? He’s soooo krazyyyy.
The head of Amtrak police just happened to be in town at the time of the event?
***You know, you can take your guns with you on the train now. ****
Ohhh! AR-18. Full auto!
Is there evidence that the cop started the shooting?
Why would the suspect open fire on a cop, if the cop was undercover/plainclothes?
Did the cop try to make an arrest on a crowded train rather than waiting until the suspect exited the train?
“Police now say a shooting aboard an Amtrak train at the Dallas Union Station involved plainclothes narcotics officers and a suspect.”
The question is: who shot first?
Well, no you cannot. You can place firearms and ammo in checked baggage a la’ air travel, but no, you cannot travel “with” your arms....
“The train must carry checked baggage. The passenger must travel on the same train. At least 24 hours in advance, the passenger must notify Amtrak of intent to transport firearms or ammunition by calling (800) USA-RAIL.
Firearms must be unloaded and in an approved, locked, hard-sided container, and the total weight cannot exceed 50 pounds. The weaponry must be checked in at the station at least a half-hour before scheduled departure. Ammunition and its secure containers must not weigh more than 11 pounds.
BB guns, air guns and paintball markers are also subject to the rules, and only the passenger may have the key or know the combination to gun-carrying containers.”
