Chrysler Group LLC confirmed today that its new small car, the first vehicle to feature Fiat SpA (F.MI) technology, will be called the Dodge Dart.

The car, in production at the automaker's assembly plant in Belvidere, Ill., will be featured in January at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

With this vehicle, Chrysler will have a small-car offering in its portfolio for the first time in more than a decade. The car also will allow majority stakeholder Fiat to raise its stake in Chrysler by 5 percentage points to 58.3 percent once it is certified by the U.S. government as delivering 30 miles per gallon.

The car will be built on the underpinnings adapted from Fiat's Alfa Romeo Giulietta. A price wasn't disclosed.

They can call the new one the Dodge Fart. Goes along with the Chevy Dolt.

I wanted a Charger, but got a good deal on the ‘67 Coronet. It had the 318 in it, three speed manual on the tree and no power anything.

I think I would trade almost any newer car I have for that simple, beautiful car again. It was stolen and stripped, guy told me that the front fenders were interchangeable with the Charger and they rusted out above the front wheels so bad they were on the “hot list” of parts stolen that year.

Damn, that looks familiar! But I still can’t recall what it was. One of the ugliest cars on the road along with the Plymouth Fury back in the 1970’s . . . and the competition was pretty keen for that title at the time.

I have a 1965 Dodge Dart, 2-door post with a slant 6. Also have another one, same color, 4 door with a BITCHIN 318 in it. We bought the 4 door for the body parts (front end, quarter panels, better chrome) and had no idea at the time how nice the engine in it was. Now the quandary is do we put the 318 in the two door, or do we stay with the slant 6 for the mileage? Either way, I LOVE MY DART. The license plate says ‘NO HEMI’ and I get a LOT of smiles, and a lot of comments on my car, even tho it’s not quite ‘fixed up’ yet. We’ve never seen another 2 door post on the road.

Traded around for one like that, but someone had swapped in a built 440 with Max Wedge heads and a single 4V intake.

I stuck some small slicks under it and cracked the back glass leaving the line at the strip........

It really needed a six point cage.

Traded it off.

I owned a 1963 Dart with the smaller slant-banger and push-button automatic. It had to be parked level or facing downward or you couldn’t get it out of Park...25 MPG plus one quart every 100 miles, and anything in the trunk was liable to get soaked.
What a great car.

‘68 Peugeot 404

Now THAT was one ugly automobile. Not as ugly as the Citroen, but close.

Surprisingly if you put the 318 in it and keep the small 2 bbl carb you won’t see that much difference in mileage than with the slant six I’ve found.

Of course that’s if you keep your foot out of it, which was and still is my biggest problem... :)
