Obama: Limited Gov't That Preserves Free Markets 'Doesn't Work. It Has Never Worked'

(CNSNews.com) - In a speech delivered at Osawatomie High School in Osawatomie, Kansas, on Tuesday, President Barack Obama argued that while a limited government that preserves free markets "speaks to our rugged individualism" as Americans, such a system "doesn't work" and "has never worked" and that Americans must look to a more activist government that taxes more, spends more and regulates more if they want to preserve the middle class.

"'[T]here is a certain crowd in Washington who, for the last few decades, have said, let’s respond to this economic challenge with the same old tune. 'The market will take care of everything,' they tell us," said Obama. "If we just cut more regulations and cut more taxes--especially for the wealthy--our economy will grow stronger.

"Sure, they say, there will be winners and losers," Obama continued. "But if the winners do really well, then jobs and prosperity will eventually trickle down to everybody else. And, they argue, even if prosperity doesn’t trickle down, well, that’s the price of liberty.

We haven’t had free markets or limited government in this country for a long, long time and look what shape we are in. And with most Republicans supporting big government RINO’s in the primary its going to stay that way for the foreseeable future.

Cripes, how the hell did we ever get along as a country before the New Deal? Was that just dumb luck?

"Who is John Galt?"

It's incredible just how accurate Ayn Rand was with all this stuff.

Wait a second.....I hate Progressivism but Teddy was NO zero cuz really loved America and the Natural Family and Individualism. Yes, he was misinformed by the “elites” who infiltrated the Universities at the time, but since this ideology of the Progressives wasn’t practiced in full-force in America, it was hard for Teddy to know the results of this Progressivism and comprehend its real impact.

After all, many great people were fooled and realized their folly later (it is the Marxist twisting of words—even the meaning of the word “progressive” which has such great connotations). Marxist ideology is all about controlling language—so to deceive and fool. Marxism twists reality and inserts lies and half-truths so many great people—even those highly intelligent ones like Teddy—can and will be misled.

Even the Progressive John Dewey—the Fabian socialist lived to regret some of what he had done to the American school system. The results of ideology can be easily obscured for a while but if Teddy would have lived long enough, I think he would have reassessed his thinking and direction.

Some ideas sounded good—especially before they were put into practice. Progressive thinking was an intentional disguise of Marxist/Atheist ideology and many didn’t realize it at the time because of the name.

What’s scary is that most who voted for him agree.

Last presidential election....not one Obama voter in tens of thousands had the faintest idea that he/she was casting a vote for a RINGER who was not committed to our free enterprise form of government.

Not one voter out of tens of thousands who will vote for Obama next November has the faintest idea he/she is casting a vote for an evil Marxist who is determined to destroy our free enterprise form of government by any ruthless means possible.

The masses are brainwashed by the media....and/or dependent on the welfare/bureacratic state. They will be out in droves to vote for King Frog like the lemmings they were last time.

They are not politically or economically educated like we are....and they live in their own naive worlds. They will NOT BELIEVE negative and frightening things about Obama's performance even though they personally experience these things or see them happening with their own eyes.

("RINGER".....a person who enters or is entered into a competition or race in order to cheat and defraud).

We can not sit out next election or contemplate third party....even if our candidate is a less-than-perfect mortal.

Obama... your governing is making me long for the day of the Carter presidency. Are you stupid, ZERO?? Never worked and never has?? Every heard of Henry Ford (he founded Ford Motor -- the only company who DID NOT take TAXPAYER's MONEY), Andrew Carnegie (founder of what is now USX, a shadow of a great company that the UNIONS destroyed.), Bill Gates (thou you hate the internet!!), James Hill, Leland Stanford and Jay Gould (Railroads).

Every time you open your mouth, you make me think you are the MARXIST YOU ARE!!!

In 2008 when FReepers were upset at McCain... I said that O is a MARXIST and we need to hold our nose to vote for McCain, but we need McCain elected.

Now I'll say it again...WE NEED TO DEFEAT THIS ANTI-AMERICAN, COMMUNIST LOVING, IRAN SUPPORTING NUTJOB MARXIST IN 2012!!!!!

When considering leftists, one can try to classify them along two axes: one with extremes labeled “self-serving demagogue” and “good-hearted bloke”, the other with extremes labeled “hopelessly naive about economics” and “knows better”.

It seems Obama from this speech should be classified as a hopelessly naive about economics self-serving demagogue.

The most charitable construction one can put on the contents of his speech is that he foolishly fancies that “limited government that preserves free markets” means absolute laissez faire without even laws to protect health and safety or suppress fraud (including exotic forms of fraud), and that he is ignorant of the role government intervention have always played in the establishment of monopolies.

I think he’s just handed the GOP nominee, whoever it is, the election.

He’s right. Going from an upstart colony on the edge of the known world to the worlds only remaining super power inside of 200 years “has never worked” for communist or islamist pukes.

The Ideological candidate for TRUE conservatives, is a dream. And unfortunately, the candidates we see before us today, are at best, moderates. Granted, Santorum and Bachman are the only 2 (IMO) that are the closest to true conservativis, but the likelihood of them being elected....one can only wish. We still have a year to go, after all, so who knows what can happen.

That said, I agree, we can’t continue looking for a Conservative “messiah”. Anyone but Obama....ANYONE but that Marxist, Communist, ANTI-American POS!!!! And even though Gingrich, Romney(ugh) and Huntsman all play from the same “elite” BIG government book, they at least care about America. They at least are NOT Marxists. They at least, aren’t out for NWO. However, I think MY fear on those candidates is that they can be manipulated by the elites, and would end up helping the NWO along, like McCain would have, at a slower pace.

But if our only options are slower vs. full speed ahead, slower would be better. Am I right?

Also, I don’t think the fate of America rests just on ONE man. Yes, the President at the helm does direct the ship, so to speak, but it also takes the proper government behind him. So if we can turn the House and Senate on their head and regain TRUE conservative control there....maybe, hopefully, our country can be put back to rights, regardless of where the President wants to direct it.

It’d just be nice to have them all want to steer it in the same direction.

I just wish Rick or Michelle could get their campaign going, but so far they aren't. I'd like to see both of them as the ticket, but I think it might be Newt.

We got to get behind the GOP candidate next year --so we can DEFEAT O!!

It is impossible to meaningfully say something does or does not work, without defining what it is supposed to do. If someone has been conditioned to be miserable at the fact they aren't as wealthy as other people, such a person will not feel themselves enriched by the economic growth that would result from a free-market economy. So in that regard, the free-market economy would be a failure.

Of course, the real reason for those people's misery wouldn't be the existence of a "wealth gap", but rather the fact that they've been conditioned to embrace covetousness. As long as they continue to embrace covetousness, nothing will make them happy.
