The botched gun-tracking operation Fast and Furious was a plot hatched by the Obama administration to impose stricter gun laws, a House Republican said.
In an interview with the National Rife Association, Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) said the controversial Justice Department operation which authorized the sale of guns to known and suspected straw buyers for Mexican drug cartels was a plot from the administration to build support for gun control.
This was the most anti-gun administration in our countrys history and there are a number of us that believe the whole genesis of this Fast and Furious was to further their gun control aims right here in the United States, Walsh told NRA reporter Ginny Simone.
When you look back at Holders testimony a few weeks ago in his opening statement he basically fell back on that again and said You know what? You may have problems with Fast and Furious, but this just goes to show we need to keep a tighter lid on arms and guns in America that may be leaving the country, he continued.
It was outlandish and actually, I would say very stupid, that he actually said that, because he revealed their aims, Walsh said.
Walsh has been vocal in calling for Attorney General Eric Holders resignation over the scandal. He said a special prosecutor, who could hold witnesses in contempt of court, is needed to investigate the Department of Justice.
There does appear to be a real stonewalling effort here that I believe will leave Congress with no alternative but to call for a special prosecutor, he said. They havent responded to subpoenas, clearly there have been conflicting reports and now evidence as to when he was first aware of Fast and Furious, and now this latest dump of material shows that there were real conflicts for a while as to who knew what about this program.
Holder has ordered an inspector general investigation on Fast and Furious and said the gun walking that occurred under the program should never have happened.
This operation was flawed in concept, as well as in execution. And, unfortunately, we will feel its effects for years to come as guns that were lost during this operation continue to show up at crime scenes both here and in Mexico. This should never have happened. And it must never happen again, Holder said last month.
The attorney general testified Thursday before the House Judiciary Committee about Fast and Furious and faced a barrage of criticism from Republicans.
Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) suggested Congress might impeach Holder if it does not get satisfactory answers about inaccurate statements and information the Department of Justice provided about Fast and Furious.
But, but, but......Zer0’s been the gun salesman of the year for at least the last four yeears.
The idiot probably finally realized it and wants to do something about it.
I’m sick of waiting, this is like watching a pot to boil over. If this was any other president, the media would have destroyed the administration months ago.
When you look back at Holders testimony a few weeks ago in his opening statement he basically fell back on that again and said You know what? Well now that makes perfect sense. You’ve got a Justice Dept lead gunrunning operation to Mexico therefore you need to curb 2nd Amend. rights. Brilliant.
So, then, why isn’t Rep Joe. Walsh stating the “elephant in the room”: “ A political policy decision resulted inm the death of a citizen of the US who was also under the emplyment authority of the Chief Executive.”
That amounts to treason.
Until they come up with a compeling alternative story, this narrative fits as well as any. A little convoluted though.
Incompetance or corruption: you decide.
Who is going to make a Michael Moore style documentary? “Bowling for Skinheads” anyone?
They are just now figuring out this was a Gun Control attempt by Obama?
Doesn’t anyone else remember Obama and the Mexi Pres complaining about “all the illegal guns found at mexican crime scenes” were being bought in the US and sent to Mexico? But when the true origin of the guns was determined, they really came from other central and south american countries, many stolen (sold?) from the military in those countries.
So oBama and his minions hatched the fast and furious to “prove” america was responsible for all the guns in mexico, so we need more control and stricter GUN CONTROL over US citizens.
This has Chicago style politics written all over it, and oBama absolutely knew about it from the start, he ordered it done.
Remember that like it was yesterday, pathetic.
there is no doubt in my mind that Walsh is right and that; furthermore, had the truth not come out, Obama would have used this bogus gun data to justify sweeping anti-second amendment legislation WITH FULL KNOWLEDGE that the data was created by Eric Holder. It’s time to start dangling prison sentences in front of people so we can find out exactly who knew what and when they knew it.
You type faster than I. And your post is spot on!
Absolutely agree, he knew about it and probably helped plan it.
I see no reason to let them off the hook.
We must make arrangements to send them to Mexico for trial the second the Republican President takes office.
Another day, another hearing, another frustrating question mark.
Someone told the truth! This is OUTRAGEOUS! Shoot the truth teller. Where’s McLame when he need him? Lindsay..someone is telling the truth on your watch!/s/
Support for gun control? More like gun banning. Typical of the Hill to misidentify the true objective.
“..we need to keep a tighter lid on arms and guns in America that may be leaving the country.”
Interesting statement. He said “we need..”
And, by “we,” would he mean BATFE? But wait, aren’t they the guys who walked the guns to the cartels?
Of course, he’s just referring to many more new laws. But, again, who will be enforcing those gun laws? And, again, BATFE?
Ding Ding Ding! We have a winner.
Of course Obozo new, he planned it.
