Time to Get Serious About Insider Trading in Washington
Big Government ^ | 8th December 2011 | Governor Rick Perry

Posted on 12/09/2011 6:47:39 AM PST by shield

Congress is finally feeling the pressure over insider trading, the practice of trading financial securities based on non-public information available to a select few in government.

After a series of investigative reports, including several here at Big Government, the American people are beginning to realize that what is wrong with this country can be diagrammed on a map, with a straight line connecting Wall Street and Washington, D.C.

Now exposed to the light of day, the political establishment is determined to show the American people it is “doing something” to clean up its act.

This week, the House Financial Services Committee held a hearing on the matter, taking what many observers saw as great pains to minimize perceptions of a systemic and bipartisan problem. But I remain skeptical, as do many Americans, that Congress will actually pass a bill with teeth that requires them to live by the same rules as the rest of us.

Hey, what is this I hear about “internal” trades, by the company, using client funds, and keeping the profits?

Criminal.

They rip you off through taxes, they rip you off in regulations, and they rip you off in the stock market and we pay them to do it.

Congress will continue to steal without fear of prosecution because the agencies who have the authority to prosecute them get their funding from Congress.

What’s the deal with spamming your own thread?

The subject of the thread is insider trading by congress.

In post #1, you put a bunch of spam links about Rick Perry’s foriegn policy positions.

What are you doing? Did you post the original thread, because you thought it would be an interesting topic for disucssion, or simply because you thought it would be a good way to hook people into seeing your links to Rick Perry info?

This is a common tactic with the Perry people. If you see their names attached to a non-Perry article, skip over it. It’s just a set up.

Seriously? did you not notice that the article was written by Rick Perry?

No, I didn’t notice really. Makes no difference. The Perries do use this tactic and it’s annoying.

This a surprising commentary. Who would thought Perry knew how to write? Usually dumb-as-a-post people like him would concentrate on mastering basic speaking befor branching out.

Seriously? did you not notice that the article was written by Rick Perry?

Then why does post #1 have a bunch of spam links Perry's foriegn policy positions?

Seriously, did you not notice that the subject of the article was corruption in Washington (a domestic policy issue)?

Seriously, don't you think the original poster would have gotten more traction for Perry by using the #1 post to reinforce the message of Perry's article with something like "This is why we should support Perry, because he's serious about cleaning up Washington corruption", instead of diluting the message of the original article with a bunch of spam links?

Oh stop whining. It’s her thread she can post what she wants in it.

If you don’t like it then find or start your own thread. Life is too dang short to get caught up in what a person posts on an internet forum.

Now, do you have a problem with the congress critters enriching themselves on our backs or are you more interested in just trolling threads with your forum police bitching and complaining?

I am more disgusted with so called conservatives being more concerned with forum protocol than they are at the elected officials enriching themselves with the information they get prior to us regular folks. If anyone of us would act on the same kind of information we would go to jail.

In the old days these same congress critters would have already been tarred and feathered for their behaviors.

The solution is simple: congress shall not exempt itself from any federal law or regulation.

Unfortunatly, it will probably take a constitutional amendment to accomplish.

Isn’t it vastly more important to discuss how to get that accomplished than to complain about what is posted on an internet forum?

Seriously, the same greedy pigs who enrich themselves are the same ones who write the laws that would send any of us to jail for doing the same thing.

We need to be pissed at Congress, not each other.

And she didn't exactly "skip over it," did she?

I think some of these people go looking for opportunities to spew their bile and when they don't do their homework, they step in it.

Giving the rest of us a a good chuckle, of course. :-D
