Ciao again and thanks for answering,

The threads here at Freeperonia move so quickly that I guess this one’s already on page 23. So this is just for the record.

Emotions are fine and I won’t deny them, however I listed substantial and not merely semantic differences between Fascism and Islamism.

What you say about the common roots of socialism and Fascism is true. In the case of Mussolini, the inventor of Fascism, literally true. He was the editor-in-chief of the organ of the Socialist party “Avanti” (Forward). It’s just that at a certain point he saw that Nationalism (unreasonable love of one’s country) was much stronger than the supposed international bonds of the working class. So he shifted gears and became a little Caesar.

In any case with the help of the Socialists, Italy’s fledgling liberal (in the European sense) democracy had completely broken down and in the first years, Mussolini had tremendous popular and even international support to put the country on track again. The roots are the enlightenment’s deification of the state, which took different turns, some more malignant and some more benign in plenty of countries, USA included.

So I agree with most of what you’ve written concerning the connection between fascism and socialism.

You say:

Semantics is a reason why people don’t understand that Hitler and Mussolini were socialists and their ideology were very similar.

I say:

Semantics is why people have unthinkingly accepted the suffix of “fascism” in Islamo-Fascism.

When the Muslims nearly overran Europe and were - Deo Gratias - stopped at the Gates of Vienna, or much earlier at Tours, was there any mention of Fascism? Were they not simply called “The Mohammadans?” What were they fighting about back then? The right of free assembly, freedom of the press, one-man-one-vote? Or saving Christianity regardless of political notions that were centuries from being cooked up?

I can agree that evil in every form shares many traits. Even the gangs of Los Angeles have things in common with the Gazwa raids of the Muslims and it seems that the Mexican Mafias also have a penchant for beheading. Nonetheless, it’s of little use to say the Islamo-Crips or Islamo-drug-Cartel (even though it’s no secret that the Taliban deal drugs!)

Islam is something in and of itself. It’s ancient and has weathered many storms and many defeats. It is a religion much older than any western political system... none of which has lasted a tenth as long.

Fascism only lasted 20 years and was for all intents and purposes forgotten and repudiated in the country that invented it.

In the timeline of History it’s a blip. Pinochet, the Chilean Fascist, is today mostly forgotten, transcended in Chile... (though Newt keeps bringing up the rather successful pension plan that the Dictator implemented there).

The discussion of the wrongness of the term Islamo-Fascism is not purely academic. Because of it, western leaders figure that bringing “Democracy” to the Islamic countries will solve the problems there and deliver “rights”. That didn’t work out too well, did it?

It also gives the impression of an enemy with U-Boats and uniforms and a Supreme Command that can be vanquished the way the Nazis (who were technologically advanced) as well as the Italians (who on the military front were - with a few exceptions, charlatans).

After supposedly “winning” the war in Iraq was there any rush to gain Iraki scientists?

What is it about Islam that made science and technology languish, whereas the same cannot be said either about the Nazis or the Soviets?

I meantioned women, half of humanity. How many women could a card-carrying Fascist or Nazi be allwed to marry? How many possessions of the right hand did Pinochet allow the Chileans? Do you see any burquas in Fascist, Nazi or Soviet art?

You say:

“Groveling over naming the fascism of all these men only accomplishes the inability to recognize “fascism” in all its forms-—like in islam.”

I say:

Tagging Islam with suffixes or prefixes of Western systems, entirely misses what Islam is: an ancient enemy that was hellbent and remains hellbent on world domination. When Islam spread from Portugal to India in 100 years after the death of Mo, It wasn’t Fascism that they were delivering, but a soul-killing ethos, something different.

In closing, you will see how the term Fascist has become synonymous with the very concept of evil. I posit that the term Islamo-Fascism really means Islamo-bad. I think you are the victim of shaky semantics far more than I.

No wait. Who is the strong man of Islam? Each Fascist state had a strong man who once toppled ended the Fascism in his country. Kindly point out the strong man of Islam.

Actual ownership of the land would be the Lord of Hosts the
Creator of Heaven and earth. IMO He transferred land rights to the seed of Abraham. And the Philistines lost ownership rights by the law of conquest first to ancient Israel—later to Rome. And ownership has been in dispute ever since-so far as mortals are concerned. But again IMO the right of Ownership still resides in the hands of the Creator.I believe the Book—
and final legal rights will belong to Israel.

Newt is 100 percent correct. Newt went up one notch in my estimation (even though his private life has been exceptionally sleazy over the years) when he said he’d make John Bolton his Secretary of State, and I think Bolton would eagerly accept the position. Besides, I’m sick and tired of it being the newly designated PC “chick” position, starting with Clinton and Madeleine NotSoBright, then Bush doing it too, with Condoleeza, and now Obama with Hillary. Sick of it.

This is a dangerous world and the whole Muzzie Middle East has no respect for females, as it is in some other cultures also; so that’s who we send over to do our negotiating? A female they won’t respect in the least? And I say that as a female. I want a man in that position, a tough man, and Bolton is a tough negotiator. I really like that man, including his walrus mustache. So, good choice, Newt, if you make it to the finish line, and if someone else wins the primaries, I hope any one of them would make Bolton our SOS also. A very wise choice.

Great thread, great posts including yours, Flaglady! You hit the nail on the head when you called attention to the fact that the office of Secretary of State has become a "chick-thing", much to our detriment in the Middle East.

The analytical, intellectual and informational level of the posts on this particular thread are of a superior nature. What a pleasure it is to be reading such civil discourse. I learned things I never knew and discarded things I thought I knew.

I hope the roving FR primary candidates wolf-pack attackers don't find this thread and pollute it. It would be a pity.

I'm bookmarking so that I can return later to re-read the historical perspectives posted by well-versed freepers. Thank you all for your very welcome input.

I know what you mean about Jewish leftists (I have quite a few in my family, and there is simply nothing you can do to change their minds). But I think Ron Paul’s Israel policy is the best for Israel ultimately. And yes, Ron Paul is pro-Israel.

Everybody really knows this, and various Palestinian officials have even admitted it. But it takes cojones to come right out and say it (unless you’re a Pali) while running for POTUS.

It was sad to watch Arafat enrich himself at the expense of the “pali’s, while acting as their leader. Not sure how much American’s were complicit in his wealth building, but certainly the UN kept the money flowing. I’m quite certain over time the amount of money flowing to the various competing organizations could have long ago solve any problems, but what value would there be to the middle east in solving anything?

Now there are people in the world who speak Spanish, and some of them are actually from Spain, while others were merely conquered, slaughtered, raped and pillaged for a while until they converted to Catholocism and learned Spanish. Their descendants are called Hispanic or Latino, too. It is real. On the other hand, there are Arabs who live in Israel, some of whom are Kurds, Circassians, Southern Syrians and Northern Egyptians. So long as they don’t think they’re going to conquer you any time soon, after you kick their a@#@es decisively, it is possible to get along with them. But they are not Palestinians.

Neither; he’s just doing his usual meaningless pandering. He’ll vote for a Palestinian state in a heartbeat when his owners say so.
