Kiss member Gene Simmons and War founder Howard E. Scott unleashed verbal assaults this week on other acts.

Gene Simmons Simmons, the bassist and vocalist for the legendary band, said Madonna is not appropriate to perform at Super Bowl XLVI. When asked for his opinion on the matter, Simmons had a sarcastic response. "I love all karaoke singers," he told TMZ. "I like all the girl singers who get up and sing with tapes. Shame on you."

I’m wondering how much further the envelope can be pushed in my lifetime before there’s nothing left but to actually “do it” on a live stage before a general audience.

The Beastie Boys were a novelty act. You might as well admit Alvin and the Chipmunks to the HOF.

The Beastie Boys also caught flack for receiving a special honor, being named Wednesday as 2012 inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I simply do not understand how an act like the 'The Beastie Boys' can be inducted to the R&R Hall of Fame but a band like 'Rush' is not.
Oh...I know the reason but still....The frakin' Beastie Boys? Just...damn.

"Sabotage" alone is worth an induction. That and "No Sleep Til Brooklyn."

Are they less rock'n'roll than Neil Diamond?

Neil Diamond is not Rock 'n' Roll. Neither are the Beastie Boys.

Neil Diamond is Pop. The Beastie Boys are Rap. Not Hip Hop but Rap. Much different.

Rush can be said to be 'not Rock 'n' Roll' but they are far closer to it than either Neil Diamond or The Beastie Boys.

And BTW...I love "No Sleep Til Brooklyn.". I like "Intergalactic" too.
"Eeeeeeeeeuuh...drop?"

Neil Diamond’s 1960s singles on the Bang label (his best work) were very much Folk Rock.
