Chaim is spot on.
The Beastie Boys were a novelty act. You might as well admit Alvin and the Chipmunks to the HOF.
I simply do not understand how an act like the 'The Beastie Boys' can be inducted to the R&R Hall of Fame but a band like 'Rush' is not.

Are they less rock'n'roll than Neil Diamond?
Neil Diamond is not Rock 'n' Roll. Neither are the Beastie Boys.
Neil Diamond is Pop. The Beastie Boys are Rap. Not Hip Hop but Rap. Much different.
Rush can be said to be 'not Rock 'n' Roll' but they are far closer to it than either Neil Diamond or The Beastie Boys.
And BTW...I love "No Sleep Til Brooklyn.". I like "Intergalactic" too.
"Eeeeeeeeeuuh...drop?"
Neil Diamond’s 1960s singles on the Bang label (his best work) were very much Folk Rock.
