I’m not a huge fan of Rusty or Savage...but I really like JD. He was on at drive time for a while on my area.

Trump has been saying he might run for president since what, 1998, and he never does. It’s pretty clear he’s a paper tiger. No doubt it’s that various candidates don’t want to be tainted by the spectacle of a Trump debate.

And it looks like Bachmann’s cheap trick worked. In a report about the debate a local newscaster just said “... and Newt Romney... errh that should be, Mitt Romney...”

That is why Newt is a great candidate for most of us. I have written many times; we don’t LOVE Newt - heck we barely even like him.

Those are very good points!

Newt held his own, Michelle continued to attack her peers, Romney looked desperate, Paul managed to string together at least two coherent sentences, and Santorum bored everyone to tears. It looks like it may come down to Newt vs Perry.

Good summary!

Newt is just being Newt - which is one reason he's winning.

What a GR8 DEB8 tonight. Loved it when Newt turned to Romney and said Mitt would have been a career politician if he'd WON!

The taxpayers were going to have to cover the cost for those who couldn't afford it. That's definitely being "forced to pay for something they did not want" since Perry didn't feel the need to discuss it with the taxpayers or the legislation.

That hardly constitutes an "individual mandate" in the context of Obamacare, however, as was claimed.

Perry wouldn't have had any problems over Gardasil if he had discussed it with parents and the legislature before signing the EO.

I agree that Perry mismanaged the issue. And, at this time, I'm not a Perry supporter. But I do cringe when I see people making claims about candidates that simply are not true.

Perry is Romney’s kryptonite.

I heard somewhere that Obama did not want to destroy the drone within Iran’s territory because he thought it would be an act of war. That’s wrong on so many levels.

I’d like the candidates to explain how former Clinton staffer Snuffalupagus is somehow a more acceptable Republican debate moderator than Donald Trump.

But there’s a big difference between stating your personal opinion as a candidate and stating the policy of the U.S. government as a president. He’s not speaking for the government now. It’s doubtful Newt would make major statements about the Israeli-Palestinian issue as president without consulting with Israel. But we need to know where he stands as a candidate now. He can’t pull a Herman Cain and say you’ll find out what my policy is after I’m elected.

And let’s face it, what drove this line of questioning was not the idea that Newt would somehow throw a monkeywrench into the negotiations. It was all about towing the politically correct line on the Palestinians. This came up for the same reason Snuff tried to stop Bachmann from talking about the Palestinians’ Nazi-esque textbooks. Do you think Mitt and the media were worried about how Israel would feel about that statement or how the Palestinians would? If you think Israel, then I’ve got a bridge in Palestine I’d like to sell you.

Besides, shouldn’t anyone set themselves up with a hard-line position before entering any negotiations? You don’t start giving stuff away before you even start negotiating. This is the same reason all the candidates were right to say they wouldn’t take a deal where they get 90% spending cuts and 10% tax hikes. If they said that now, that’s exactly where their negotiations would start at with the Dems.

When Bachman was talking about the textbooks...I started to recall that I heard that story before....way before she was around...

And endorsing Cain...she didn't notice that no one has been jumping to pick up his support??
