Romney's $10,000 bet highlights personal wealth (RINO Romney is toast; Peggy Noonan deeply saddened)

He could have bet a beer. Or maybe a steak dinner.

But during a heated dispute with Rick Perry during Saturday night's debate in Des Moines, Iowa, Mitt Romney extended his right hand and asked the Texas governor if he'd wager $10,000 to settle a dispute over his healthcare record. The rich bet instantly provided Romney's opponents with new ammunition for their charge that he's out of touch with middle-class America.

Whatever you think of Romney, you cannot convince me that he wants the destruction of this nation that Obama wants.

I don't think Romney wants to destroy this country, but I do think he Romney is absolutely correct when he says the biggest difference between him and Obama is competence.

My fear, is that many of Obamas disastrous policies, if implemented by Romney, could become far more dangerous. Romneys motivations may not be malevolent, but his ability to carry out plans of Obamas policies, are still more dangerous.

Literally, our tax dollars at work.

—> Taxes ->
| Federal employee gross salary ->
| deduct taxes ->
| net pay ->
<— campaign for Obama to increase Taxes...

rinse, repeat.

Literally, our tax dollars at work.

But it says US Dept of State -- so it came from that agency. Not from the federal employees' private contributions. At least that's how I read it.

How is a US FedGov agency allowed to make political contributions? Anyone?

No, as opensecrets.org describes FEC regs on their site:

“This table lists the top donors to this candidate in the 2012 election cycle. The organizations themselves did not donate , rather the money came from the organizations’ PACs, their individual members or employees or owners, and those individuals’ immediate families. Organization totals include subsidiaries and affiliates.

Because of contribution limits, organizations that bundle together many individual contributions are often among the top donors to presidential candidates. These contributions can come from the organization’s members or employees (and their families). The organization may support one candidate, or hedge its bets by supporting multiple candidates. Groups with national networks of donors - like EMILY’s List and Club for Growth - make for particularly big bundlers.”

Really? What would be the effective difference between Romney and Obama?

Start with A-G Holder, or perhaps you think the agenda he is implementing is not that big a deal.

Perception?

It is rather disconcerting that America is going the same path as Europe where the poor and the lazy are encouraged to resentful and hateful towards people who made their own fortune while the aristocrats and bureaucrats enjoy their secluded lifestyle.

This is not the American way but obozo and the msm are determined to change it.

Who wouldn’t bet $10,000 if they knew it was a sure bet? This is so lame, but this is the type of media we have these days and some of you are making it way too easy for the media to take down these republican candidates. so Romney has money, big deal, so do a lot of other people, since when is it a sin to be rich?

Pray tell, WHAT will Radio Host-ette and seller of hypocritical morals-themed books Laura Ingraham have to say, too (stalking for Romney type), who earlier helped facilitate or encourage with considerable glee the pile-on character assassination of Herman Cain ("because he cannot win, he is not part of the "DC club").

Lots of faux conservative RINO talking heads with sheeple GOP radio following(sI are going to be soiling their diapers over the weekend over this. So close, yet so far (the nomination, or coronation for that matter).

Who does NOT estimate Romney and Perry to be rich? This is like a $10 bar bet among working men. However wise or foolish, it’s being blown way out of proportion.

Huh? What the heck is that? Government funds going into Obama's campaign stash?

It means government employees reporting to the Hildebeest forked over that amount. It's not taxpayer money

Clearly he has an agenda but he is not ever going to tell us regular folk what it is.

Oh, come on. All you have to do is look at him. And all he has to do is look in a mirror.

Yes, and I am equally if not more concerned about Romney's top advisor Ron Kaufman who promotes organized labor and progressive interests: http://newsgroups.derkeiler.com/Archive/Alt/alt.politics.bush/2008-01/msg01411.html

Doesn't bother me, but I'm thinking there's a lot of folks in Iowa who don't approve of gambling.

Exactly. I can already see him grinning on the TV waving at his supporters, the NBC/CBS/ABC drone saying “This history-making night for this historic presidency” or somesuch babble, Chris Matthews and the rest of the MSNBC pipsqueaks whipping away tears.

I should label my own post with a Barf Alert.

We will have to learn to cultivate a backbone as well. When the liberal media decides to make up things that they know will cause us to question our candidates and people who say they are conservatives complain that the candidate isn’t ready harangue us every day trying to get us to support their RINOs, we have to be willing to stop listening and tell the CINOs to shut up.

I don’t worry about whether a candidate is ready. If we have to wait for ready, we will end up with the same lying, phony conservative we’ve always gotten. (Hear that Marco.) They tell us Sarah Palin wasn’t ready, Herman Cain wasn’t ready, Michele Bachmann isn’t ready. But each of them is a conservative who would stand up for what we believe and would not sell out our citizens or our sovereignty. I cannot say that about any of the RINOs, moderates and panderers out there running for office now.

It is an absolute disgrace when a nation throws it’s principles out for slick lying comforts because they want someone who can “win.”

“And that is the end of RINO Romney.”

That doesn’t mean it’s a new beginning for conservatives :/
