State, local policies emerge on illegal immigrants

MONTPELIER, Vt. - The two Mexican farmworkers were nervous. Seated in a pickup truck whose driver had been stopped for speeding on a Vermont highway, they didn't know what to expect from the state trooper.

They'd heard of other farmworkers being detained or deported in the largely white state, whose $560 million dairy industry relies on Mexican farmhands like them. But one of the men also had been in a similar stop in New York and didn't get bothered.

I would still like an answer what I posted above. On a Rick Perry thread a freeper from Alabama ranted about Perry and illegals. I asked him who was picking the crops since the illegals left for other states and he denied that there was any problem about getting the crops picked.

Denial.....not a river in Egypt......maybe an empty fruit bowl

That was before permanent classes who simply don’t expect to have to work.

BS it is a question of supply and demand. The wage is too low so to undercut it they smuggle in imported slaves. It is your attitude that is causing the problem. If the milk can't be collected legally then slaughter the cows for meat and burn down the barns. I would rather pay a little more for milk then pay for the "cheap" labors education medical and welfare. Nothing is more expensive than cheap labor.

Seemed like there were plenty of watermelons, onions and beans at my local Food Lion. If a “farmer” is using illegal aliens to pick his crop then he is running a criminal operation not a farm. No better than a cocaine “farmer” in Columbia SA.

I hope every farmer that uses illegals goes out of business and every bit of their BS crop rots in the field. I also a hope a drunk illegal runs his butt over.

The whole point is that there were 11 thousand job openings that everyone says Americans will take, what happened?

.

I don’t know where they are potlatch!

Maybe they went with Obama to see the Army-Navy football game.

They aren’t here - I looked outside a minute ago.

Who cares? As long as 11,000 illegals didn't get imported America won. It appears the crops rotted. The farmer(s) could have paid more but chose not too. Hopefully those farmers learned their lesson and are pursuing honest way to make a living.

Vermont is a joke.

A geographically beautiful state, with towns so quaint and lovely they almost look fake, many wealthy New York transplants, the crunchy granola artist types, and of course virtually no minorities.

If they truly cared they would bring in busloads of poor folk from Detroit and South Chicago. They could help them turn their lives around.

“It’s amazing.

A police officer can stop me. order me out of my car.
Ask if he can search my car. When I say no, that is the basis he uses to have a reasonable suspicion that I have something illegal in my car and have it searched.

But if I am Mexican or Hispanic he cannot even ask if I am in the country legally.

What a boatload of crap.”

In today’s America, citizenship has become a hindrance.

This article is authored by one Lisa Rathke. Isn’t Rathke the family name of the brothers who formed and ran ACORN?

I believe it will also be illegal for them to be on a ladder that is over 6 feet tall and they won’t be able to de-sex corn. But if they are a public school student they will learn how to properly don a condom.
