Innnneresting news: Politico’s Ben Smith is leaving the site within the next few weeks to take on a new position at… BuzzFeed. At BuzzFeed, Smith will be tasked with, in his words, “trying to help build the first true social news organization – that is, an outfit built on the understanding that readers increasingly get and share their news on Twitter, Facebook, and other platforms.” BuzzFeed, as you may know, is an aggregation site (with occasional bits of original reporting) devoted to gathering the most newsworthy, interesting and viral bits of news and entertainment

Jonah Peretti (born January 15, 1974) is an Internet entrepreneur and a founder of BuzzFeed and Huffington Post. The New York Times called him a “viral marketing hot dog.”

A graduate of the MIT Media Lab, Peretti is best known for his experiments with “contagious” or “viral” media, including the parody website BlackPeopleLoveUs.com, which enthusiastically documents a couple’s rapport among the African-American community, and a widely-forwarded email thread known as the Nike Sweatshop Emails in which Peretti exchanges politesse with an anonymous Nike representative over why “sweatshop” was not allowed to be printed on his custom Nike iD sneakers.

Peretti is member of the New York based artist group Free Art and Technology Lab (a.k.a. FAT Lab).

Peretti is married to Andrea Harner and lives in New York City. He is the brother of comedian and writer Chelsea Peretti.

A web guru, viral media expert, and occasional social activist, Peretti is director of research and development at art/tech hothouse Eyebeam, a partner in Arianna Huffington and Ken Lerer’s HuffingtonPost.com, and the founder of news startup BuzzFeed.com. He may be best known for his online prankery: With his comedian sister Chelsea Peretti, he created viral sites like BlackPeopleLoveUs.com and the New York City Rejection Line.

Ben Smith apparantly recognizes the recent downgrade that “Politico” has taken, and....has decided to leave the sinking ship. CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, NBC, ABC, CBS, Politico, the NY Times, the Washington Post etc. have all become lock-step communications organs for the Obama mantra of collectivism & socialism. With diminishing readership & viewership, they are fastly wilting on the vine, suffering an incurable sickness cause exclusively by themselves, self-inflicted, so-to-speak!!! They will not change, so....the American people are leaving them all to wallow, unfettered, in their own homemade cesspool of open anti-Americanism and the Obama/Democrat hate of the American Republic!!!

It is helpful to know where our opponents are setting up shop.
