UN climate talks reach deal

Participants in the U.N. climate talks agree a legal deal on an effort to control global warming.

At a conference in Durban, South Africa, governments agreed to adopt a legal agreement “as soon as possible” but no later than 2015 to curb greenhouse gas emissions to limit the rise in average global temperatures by 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

The agreement would extend the Kyoto Protocol that was adopted in 1997 and is set to expire in 2012. The U.S. never ratified the protocol.

I would like to see a plank in the Republican Party platform calling for the U.N. to be dismanteld.

This was all about saving face. It still takes a 2/3 vote of the U.S. Senate to ratify any treaty. Hate to tell ‘em but it ain’t gonna happen, not even with a Dim in the White House.

“I would like to see a plank in the Republican Party platform calling for the U.N. to be dismantled.”

So would I, but we are both going to be disappointed. That would be a conservative measure, favorable to national sovereignty. Not gonna happen.

Twenty years ago, we had ten years to fix the problem. We’re toast, why bother?

That's exactly what it is, it's a scam and an extremely absurd one at that. Let's look at this for what it is: They actually have people believing that something that has a value of nothing will put us in danger. The percentage of CO2 in the earths atmosphere is 0.04% ZERO point ZERO. Just like it was 100 year ago, a 1000 years ago....Oh yes, and if you go back a million years, you'll find it's be DECREASING ever since! A billion years ago it was as high as 200% more. Oh but you'll never hear about that.

Do these idiots who believe this tripe think humans can have ANY effect on 5000 trillion metric tons of atmosphere which is GAS? When it comes to the size of the atmosphere we are microbes. You can't even see us from space unless you zoom almost to the surface. But you can see PLENTY of green PLANTS from outer space WHICH USE CO2! These idiots should read up on how Venus became a greenhouse planet, by WATER VAPOR but the UN can't really put a ban on that, or maybe I shouldn't speak too soon...It wouldn't suprise me in the least if they do, then out comes the demands for money.

My God, look at all the green colored people and green colored cars on earth.

Humans are but a speck upon this huge planet in everything we do. Like leaving the reefer door open expecting that to cool someones front yard on the other side of the world.

These wannabe world leaders just don't give up, do they.
Thank you, Maurice Strong.
Thank you George Soros.
Thank you, Goron Moron...

Dismantle and defund the UN now!

They don't have a clue what causes global warming, but they insist on taxing us anyway.

What does it cost the U.S. to maintain the U.N.?

I say we dump the U.N. and spend that money to develop modern nuclear plants, STET!

From the link at post #14:

*************************************EXCERPT***********************************

* Ø A new International Climate Court will have the power to compel Western nations to pay ever-larger sums to third-world countries in the name of making reparation for supposed “climate debt”. The Court will have no power over third-world countries. Here and throughout the draft, the West is the sole target. “The process” is now irredeemably anti-Western.

Betcha we won’t ratify this one, either. However, Obamao will proceed to implement it administratively.
