Tebow fever grips Denver
The Washington Times ^ | December 12,2011 | Valerie Richardson

Maybe this is how the residents of Bethlehem felt.

Coloradans — even the non-football fans — are as shocked and awed as anyone by the miracle occurring in their own backyard with the rise of Tim Tebow, the Denver Broncos quarterback and quite possibly the most famous Christian bachelor to walk the Earth in the past 2,000 years.

The “Mile-High Messiah” — just one of the many nicknames he’s acquired since arriving here last year — has led the city’s flagging NFL franchise on an improbable 6-1 run this season. In the process, he’s halted the team’s slide into midsize-market mediocrity and placed the Mountain Time zone at the center of the media universe.

“I think it’s been huge. He’s the talk of the NFL,” said Mohammed Suleiman, who runs a new pro-Tebow message every Monday on the electronic sign outside the headquarters of Multiline International Imports in Denver. “Every week, they talk about him on the news and ESPN. Just to be a part of that here in Colorado is a great feelin

Tebow is a terrific guy, but this article is insane.

I, too, suspect that this “mile high Messiah” business is a dirty trick on the media’s part, trying to pretend that Tebow thinks he’s the Messiah, when he is actually a pretty humble guy who tries to give the credit where credit is due.

Hopefully it won’t work, either on Tebow or on his fans, because I’d hate to see what Tebow represents undermined by these idiots. I think most people instinctively understand the case, and hopefully that will prevail.

The kicker said to himself, if a below average QB, who all the experts said couldn't play in the NFL, who can't pass, can lead us on an 80 yard TD drive with seven complete passes in a row, then I can kick a 59 yard field goal.

Bingo! Tebow is the kind of player that elevates all the other players around him. When Tiger Woods played golf in High School, his entire team did better than it had ever done before, or has done since. Some sports figures are like that.

I agree.

I can sense the Media ramping up for the inevitable Bronco loss which is certainly coming...then they can pour out all
their I-guess-he’s-not-the-messiah-after-all derision upon him.

The Broncos having a kicker who can kick 59 yard field goals in the last second of a game is also quite the miracle.

Yeah, especially because when he played here in Atlanta, in a dome, he sucked. He's been cut by 3 or 4 teams.

Maybe confidence is contagious.

As far as I’m concerned Champ Bailey is the gold standard for an NFL player in terms of class, athletic ability and experience. And he’s a big Tebow fan.

If those Broncs can take out NE this weekend it will really go into overdrive as other two games on schedule looking quite doable.

It's quite humorous on ESPN watching football expert after football expert give advice on what strategies the Patriots should follow in order to beat the Broncos.

I have seen no one on there offering advice to the Broncos on what strategies to follow to beat the Patriots.

"This has to be the single dumbest analogy in the history of sports writing."

You must have missed the article comparing Newt Gingrich to Babe Ruth.

Just let him be late returning a library book and the media will erupt in 24/7 coverage of the scandal.

I hate football and know nothing about it but have read 2 articles about Tebow in the past 3 days,Boston Globe and Time.

He’s certainly not lacking publicity.

If I’m not mistaken, the substance of Tebow’s remarks after that game are inscribed on the statue of him in Gainesville. We Floridians are desperate to watch every Bronco game!

Regardless as to how Tebow plays going forward, the Bronco's owner has to have already more than recovered his full salary.

I wonder if the Jaguars owner is still feeling like a genius for having passed his chance to draft the hometown boy?

Note to Pats from the Bears: Don’t go into a soft prevent defense in the 4th quarter.

Tebow has said that God has nothing to do with football victories. It is the MSM that is trying to make a caricature out of him. Tebow always shifts the praise and credit to his teammates. It drives the MSM nuts. They are so cynical that they don’t believe that people like Tebow exist.

Well, I'm not a football fan at all - simply don't have the time to be... but, I'm going to try to find the Bronco/Patriots game and watch part of it, hopefully at least the last half or quarter.

Nothing would please me more than seeing the pundits proven wrong again.

I still remember well watching the Arizona Diamond Backs beat the Yankees - against all odds.

The Global Language Monitor announced Monday that it acknowledges that the word “Tebowing” has officially entered the English language.

The website, which monitors global language trends, said in a statement to USA Today that the rapid rise of “Tebowing” as a word “has seldom been equaled, mirroring, for example, the rate of adoption of the word Obamamania in early 2008.”

You know, I’d be surprised if they beat New England.

That said, NE is supposed to win. IF the Broncos win...the Tebow mania is going to go insane.

I heard on the radio a couple of weeks ago that New England traditionally doesn't play well in Denver. So the Broncos have a shot at winning.

The knock on Denver and Tebow's winning streak is that they beat teams with bad QB's. But that argument can't be made if the Broncos beat the Pats. You're right, if Denver wins this week, Tebow mania is going to be insane.

There's something about Tebow that brings out the best in the players.

That's exactly right and Mike Ditka said the exact same thing in a youtube about Tebow. Tebow isn't great mechanically as a "quarterback" right now, but it's the intangible thing called "leadership" that inspires and motivates a team to play behind him that is winning their games.

He's going to fail, he's going to lose games and his true fans will stick by him thru all the losses that will come his way and all the doubters will jump on the bandwagon called "see, we told you so"......
