An endangered listing for the DSL would ruin the oil drilling industry in the Permian Basin, that area of west Texas and eastern New Mexico that produces about 20% of all the oil from the lower 48 states and 5% of total oil produced in the US. The oil produced there also constitutes 68% of all oil produced in the state of Texas.

The reptiles in Washington want to save the reptiles in Texas. Actually, this lizard is just the latest prop for the liberal agenda to stop domestic oil production.

The situation could prove similar to the Alaskan pipeline. Nice cozy places to gather at night. Might be the best thing those lizards have seen for eons.

What overwhelming redeeming quality do these lizards possess that trumps U.S./Texas oil production?

Will we now be encouraged to shoot crows and hawks to protect the lizards?
I didn’t think so.

It’s time to repeal the ESA entirely.
