Over the past decade, attacks and plots by homegrown US terrorists have increased, the work of extremists from across the political spectrum, says an analysis by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) based at the University of Maryland.
Key finding from the analysis are published in the Global Terrorism Database and include:
* Between 2000 and 2010 there were 213 terrorist attacks in the United States. Seventeen of these, including the four 9/11 attacks, were fatal. * Since Sept. 11, 2001, 32 people have been killed in terrorist attacks in the United States. The most lethal attack was the 2009 shooting at Ft. Hood in Texas, in which 13 people died. * Forty percent of terrorist attacks in the United States since 2000 have involved individuals with no apparent affiliation to a known extremist group. These individuals included adherents of a range of ideologies, including anti-abortion extremists, environmental extremists, White supremacists, and Islamist extremists. * Of the attacks in the United States for which perpetrator information is known (73 percent), the groups most frequently launching completed attacks were the Earth Liberation Front (ELF) and the Animal Liberation Front (ALF). High-profile attacks by individuals affiliated with Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) were successfully foiled.
The Global Terrorism Database is an open-source database including information on more than 98,000 terrorist events around the world from 1970 through 2010. It is currently the most comprehensive unclassified database on terrorist events in the world. For each incident, information is available on the date and location of the incident, weapons used and nature of the target, the number of casualties, and - when identifiable -the group or individual responsible.
Other databases created from the analysis include:
Profiles of Islamic Radicalization in North America
START's Profiles of Islamic Radicalization in North America database provides information on 211 individuals known to have radicalized in North America to the point of supporting violence from 1989 to 2011.
These homegrown violent extremists started and completed a significant portion of their radicalization in North America, though not all attempted or carried out violence in North America.
* The vast majority of homegrown Islamist extremists (80 percent) began their radicalization after the events of 9/11 and the subsequent Global War on Terrorism; * Nearly half of the identified homegrown Islamist extremists (45 percent) come from a middle class background, and the majority (59 percent) are highly rooted in their host society. * At least 24 percent of the 211 individuals were converts to Islam.
Extremist crimes
START's Extremist Crime database includes a systematic collection of open-source data on non-violent and violent criminal behavior in the United States associated with far-right extremist groups, far-left extremist groups, and al-Qaida-influenced groups. By developing this database, START researchers have thus far recorded thousands of criminal incidents committed by far-right extremists between 1990 and 2010 and more than one hundred by those inspired by al-Qaida. Data collection on far-left criminal activity is currently underway.
* More than 345 homicide incidents were committed by at least one far-rightist between 1990 and 2010. * Far-rightists killed almost 50 law enforcement officials between 1990 and 2010. These incidents involved federal, state and local police officers, correctional officers, private security guards and one judge. * Far-right extremists committed more than 350 financial schemes since 1990. Since data collection and coding is ongoing this number will grow. * Almost 25 fatal incidents (in which the suspect killed others and/or was killed by police or committed suicide) have been committed by al-Qaida-inspired extremists since 1990. * Al-Qaida-inspired extremists committed close to 100 financial schemes since 1990.
But the real homegrown terrorists, according to Nappy at the DHS, is Whitey McCrackerhonkey! Not those Islam extremists and militants!
Yeah, but the REAL PROBLEM is us TeaPartier Birther types with Bibles/Guns etc.........
What our Congressional wingnuts miss is that much of the homegrown terrorists is actually imported. We let in Muslims from all over under diversity policies; they don’t assimilate; and even if these immigrants don’t turn to terror, there’s an elevated likelihood that their alienated offspring will. Is that really homegrown?
Sure, there’s the occasional red-headed jihadi, but they’re fairly rare.
The only terrorist organizations that I am aware of are : HOMELAND SECURITY and the Department of “ JUST-US “.
When yelling “Allah AKBAR” is deemed ‘workplace violence’, I am aware that the security of the nation is upside-down .
With at least one third of Americans are the most ignorant on the earth one can expect some extremists to evolve. The communists leaders, and there are hundred of thousands, have worked for many years dumbing down the empty minded.
Where is the barf alert?
“thousands of criminal incidents committed by far-right extremists between 1990 and 2010 and more than one hundred by those inspired by al-Qaida.”
They also fail to give any numbers on leftist crime. Instead they say it is still being compiled. Really? The study bgan in 1990 and they still don’t have any numbers for leftists? I bet (but not 10 k dollars : ) that the criteria for qualification is heavily weighted to ensure low to no numbers of leftists crimes IF that segment ever gets released.
psssst! I suggest looking at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
The title should read...
The Growing Problem of Disinformation, and Covering for Radical Islamic Extremists
***Between 2000 and 2010 there were 213 terrorist attacks in the United States.***
Mmmmm...that’s funny - all along we were told all these ‘events’ were not terrorism. We’re being kept ‘safe’ because we’re “fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them over here”, I seem to remember.
But, hey, as long as 90 yr old grandmas get sexually assulted at the airport I guess there’s nothing to worry about.
Go team! Lets roll.
For one they somehow seemed to have omitted that little thing that occurred on Sept 11, 2001.
And dollars to donuts all those violent 'far rightest' crimes include White prison gangs like the Aryan Brotherhood. Which was initially formed as a means of self defense and protection from all the Black and 'Hispanic' prison gangs.
Now I'm surely NOT defending the 'AB' but it's a known fact that White prison inmates are outnumbered at least by a 20 to 1 margin to all the 'minority' inmates and without any 'backup' a White inmate is d-e-a-d. So pull those OUT, or include all the Black and Hispanic 'extremists'.
Most of these homegrown terrorist types are your extreme Occupy Wallstreeters. These are the people that smash windows and throw maulitove cocktails at the WTO gatherings.
Watch the documentary on Netflix called “If a Tree Falls”.
It is all about Earth Liberation Front. This group of radicals burned down several sawmill offices, suv’s, tree farms, and ski lodges back in the 1980-90’s. They did millions of dollars in damages.
Two of the ELF members were sentenced to prison time as domestic terrorists.
“Homegrown”? Umm, yeah.
In the spring I buy tomato plants from the nursery and transplant them in my garden. The tomatoes I pick in the summer are “homegrown” too.
If we don’t like what’s growing in our country, we should take a look at what we’re transplanting here. Muslim terrorists are not native to America.
“Data collection on far-left criminal activity is currently underway.”
Note: not one mention of the “far-left” in the stats—just look at OWS proglodytes and their sponsors. Look at Obuttface, Holder, Piglosi and the rest of what passes as leaders. If obuttface is not a far-left extremist, who is?
>>> By developing this database, START researchers have thus far recorded thousands of criminal incidents committed by far-right extremists between 1990 and 2010 and more than one hundred by those inspired by al-Qaida. Data collection on far-left criminal activity is currently underway.<<<
This is brilliant propoganda. Islamic fascists are lumped in together with “far-right extremists” - a name without a definition. The far-right acts are labeled in the thousands. Really? Then I would have expected to have seen them on the news, over and over. That’s a lot of acts of extremism - quick math says one act every several days. Where’s the news about this?
On the other hand, they’re still compiling left-wing extreme acts. So we have no balance, no real coverage, just a vague promise to get back with us. This way, it looks to the uninformed that homegrown terrorism is a right-wing problem.
It would not surprise me to find out that anyone acting from a motive of relgious fundamentalism - including Moslems - are considered “right-wing.”
And the synonym for right-wing is... conservative.
The whole story stinks of deception and fraud. Of course, I could be wrong and I’m just looking at fraud.
You obviously see through the BS.
Figures lie, and liars figure...
There was clearly an agenda here.
