The police are reporting it was a 4 seater.
They still haven't found the plane, but have found pieces of one.

Ottawa Fire Services say it’s looking for a small plane that was on its final approach at the Ottawa airport Wednesday evening before air traffic control lost track of it.
Fire crews are looking within a three-kilometre radius of the airport. There’s no word on how many people were on board the four-seat Cessna.
The plane has been found just behind the RCMP head quarters off Leikin Dr.

Well it can’t be a Cessna 172. It only seats four. Unless they put some kids in the cargo area behind the back seat.
I’ve flown the Cardinal. It’s a four place so I don’t know where they came up with six people in it.

Skydancer, Ottawa police first described what they were looking for a plane with 4-6 “souls onboard”. I was listening to the scanner.

I used to work in the same small complex with this guy.
I saw him all the time in the parking lot, and in the restaurant.
