Giuliani Rips Mitt as Weak and Waffling; Praises Gingrich as a Fighter on Fox and Friends
Fox News | 15 Dec 11 | Fox News

Posted on 12/15/2011 5:46:02 AM PST by xzins

In a just completed interview with Fox and Friends, Rudy Giuliani hammered Mitt Romney as a weak-willed candidate who goes along to get along.

By way of contrast, he offered how often he would compromise as mayor on 20 percent of a package to get 80% of what he wanted.

He said that was the style of Ronald Reagan as president, a president he worked with.

That, he said, explains Newt Gingrich's tour in the Congress, and in particular, he spoke of Newt's acceptance of a crime bill for the simple price of midnight basketball.

He said that bill enabled him to clean up New York City at the price of some basketball games.

Giuliani also said those who claim Gingrich can't be elected are wrong.

Mod, don't know if this will show up on the Fox and Friends site, but I'll post it when it does.

I do not support Giuliani as a candidate, but he isn't one. He is, however, the best public speaker in the entire Republican Party. He is a dynamic public speaker.

Another thing to his credit; he acknowledges his liberal side. He doesn't pretend conservative principles on social issues just to be electable.

He is a rare thing....an honest liberal Republican.

I like Rudy...great Mayor of NY...

UNELECTABLE as a Presidential Candidate...way too much liberal baggage from growing up in NYC and NYC politics....

BUT

Great interview with Fox and Friends....on Romney? he gets it.

Rick Perry supporters trust Rick Perry’s judgement. Rick Perry told America during the last election that Rudy Giuliani was the best candidate for President. Does this mean that Rick Perry supporters will listen to Rudy Giuliani ;-)

Ditto. I wouldn't be surprised to see him as AG in a Gingrich presidency.

He is liberal on social issues, which you have to be in NYC, but he is conservative on foreign policy and fiscal policy. We were stupid to tear down Giuliani in 2008. He was a better candidate than Romney, Huckabee, or McCain.

Maybe...but now Rass shows Mitt up again in Iowa.

I almost want to take a 2-week sabbatical from politics.

I’m beginning to think you’re right.

I would have taken Rudy over McCain...at least he has a “set” ifyaknowwhatimean.

I’m not surprised at all by this. Giuliani and Romney may both be moderates on a lot of issues, but beyond that they couldn’t be more different. I always got the sense that Rudy was genuinely unimpressed with Romney.

“I wouldn't be surprised to see him as AG in a Gingrich presidency.”

A Rabid anti-gunner like Ghouliani as AG? Never happen with the NRA and GOA watching. It would be suicide for any pro-gun Republican that voted to confirm him.

Did he endorse Gingrich or just imply he was better than Romney? Did he talk about Perry?

I never understood why Rudy - who in many ways is a cultural Catholic - if not a very good one (sorta like me!) never changed his mind on abortion when he chose to run as Prez. That always struck me as strange, strange and more strange. At that time, I also didn’t know about the Texas corridor that he and Perry were cooking up. That came as a surprise!

And I voted for Guiliani twice as Mayor and never regretted it.

It's time for us to stop listening to the commentators and media, and to make up our own minds.

I really don't care what Giuliani says, much as I admire him since he was mayor much of the time when I lived in NYC and he did a spectacular job.

Neither do I care what the National Review (a pox on those Mittlovers) have to say. They are clearly no longer a conservative publication.

He didn't endorse Gingrich and also was positive about Perry.

BTW, when can conservatism, ever, win throughout all U.S. cities, and what are the definitive answers to make conservatism in U.S. cities really happen? Conservatism in cities would, greatly, help in, finally, ending leftist politics, throughout the entire U.S., if it could, ever, happen.
