Yep.

To be quite honest, I think it’s already happening, being manipulated/compromised to some extent, a bit at a time, testing if you will, but we’re being told very little.

Seldom have I seen anyone venture quite so far into the distant reaches of Hyperbole Land to avoid seeing the obvious point.

My hat’s off to you D1! That was an extraordinary performance!

He obviously wanted to give Iran and China a little prezzie.

And why not? Sick Willie Clinton gave China our missile technology, and Obamawama didn't want to be outdone.

Bs, it made a rough landing probably on an old road, both wings are taped and it landing gear is gone. And the whole thing is sitting on crates. They had no reason to know it was over them, the thing has a radar signature of a bird.

2 items in this context - the reroute of a big % of net traffic through china earlier this year, and the apparent missile launch off the west coast (ship-launched ballistic missile sub?)

I firmly believe that if we are ever close to a hot event with China, much of this will be made evident, quietly at first.

All we'll notice from the comfort of our own homes is that the power went off...

Sounds very unlikely; however, if true, then whoever designed the navigation system should be sent back to school.

Hey, if I dish out humor, I have to eat my portion.

It seemed to me to be rather out of place to post a picture of a manned aircraft as a response to my comments concerning an unmanned aircraft.

I suppose folks could disagree with that. I still don’t.

;^)

BTW: I have agreed with Sam_Paine many times on this forum. Can’t remember not agreeing with him. We’re not going to see eye to eye on everything.

Besides, I very well could be wrong with my thoughts on this issue.

As I said above, we’ll see in time.

I think Sam's point was that even a live crew on board every aircraft is not a foolproof solution to stuff falling into enemy hands.

Bon Appétit. (Did you bring enough for everyone, hmmmm?)

In addition, I think our commercial (ATC) air traffic control is extremely vulnerable, among other infrastructure. Right now. I think the U.S. Government knows this.

Many questions...Could we be so vulnerable that we're negotiating? Blackmailed?

Possible, but given your track record, I'd sure hate having to bet against you on any given issue.

Excerpt: We keep wiping [the virus] off, and it keeps coming back,” says a source familiar with the network infection, one of three that told Danger Room about the virus. “We think it’s benign. But we just don’t know.” Military network security specialists aren’t sure whether the virus and its so-called “keylogger” payload were introduced intentionally or by accident; it may be a common piece of malware that just happened to make its way into these sensitive networks. The specialists don’t know exactly how far the virus has spread.

Ok, let's do an Occam's Razor analysis real quick:

So what if an Iranian (Or Chicom or Russkie) intelligence agent has personally compromised the Video Game UAV command center?

A spy or a traitor "Accidentally" losing control makes as much sense and is easier to believe than any of these other stories.

Maybe it's not a UAV pilot, but a tech or someone loading viruses in order to give access to Chicoms, and the Chicoms think it's hilarious to drop one in Iran where they can discreetly buy it from the Iranians without direct confrontation.

And it explains why everyones' stories don't match.

Iranians are shocked at their good luck and embarrassed that they probably didn't even know it was there.

Whitehouse has to have a ridiculous cover story to keep enemies form knowing we're compromised.

Chicoms or Russkies are just giggling in the background.

The crew of that P3-Orion could be coerced into landing.

Could the drone crew?

No, I didn’t bring enough for everyone. I knew I wouldn’t need it. ;^)

You guys...

“GPS is very weak signal from Geo Sync sats and is not encrypted.”

Wrong. GPS is semi-syncronous and the military channels are very much encrypted. What you use as a civilian are the unencrypted channels and are very different than the military channels.

I’m an embedded systems guy, if this is the truth then the designers of this system are idiots.

This is such an obvious weak link. I can’t believe this drone was designed like this. I think there is some other explanation.... just has to be.

I suspect they are giggling, but I remain unconvinced of who they are giggling at.

For all I know they could be giggling at the folks who said we weren’t going to need manned aircraft any longer.

this advanced Bird didn’t have redundancies and countermeasures

And upon what basis do you assert this as fact?

My entire point: I cannot fathom posters here swallowing braggadocious claims made to a U.S. "news" publication by an anonymous "Iranian official."

FR is usually much more sophisticated.

Interesting point in view of my #73. The UAV's are indeed "unmanned" but they are not completely autonomous.

There is a crew in Nevada, or the midwest or wherever.

Why couldn't they be compromised?
